“worth visiting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

Its a piece of architecture well worth viewing on your trip to samarkand. The mosque has been restored quite well and is very well preserved. The entryway alone is a piece of art. The ambience and the atmosphere are nice. enjoy your visit!!

“Even more fascinating than Rajastan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

The complex is on a low hill, dominating the down. It is very well preserved and one of the domes has been damaged and never restored, thus keeping the original atmoshpere. The old dome hosts a professional restaurator, the only one in the whole of Samarkand offering exquisite painted reproduction of the dome's decorations on laqued wood.

“Very nice and quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

It was a beatiful mosque with a nice and green court yard. Most impressive were the old pictures and the big dome woch was cracked by seveal earth quakes and looked still a bit wobbly

“Great mosque, but not much to see inside”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

This is a great mosque, but not really worth the entrance fee to have a look inside. You can see everything you need to see from the entrance. It doesn't add anything to be in the courtyard and inside is really nothing to see except souvenir shops. Like anywhere in Samarkand you can bargain for your ticket price and get 1 ticket for 2 people where the lady selling the tickets pockets the difference.

“Next to the market”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

Though it is basically an empty mosque, there are some interesting vendors inside. One has reasonably priced antique tribal jewelry from Turkmenistan that I wish I had bought.
