“Hilton RAK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2010

Fantastic hotel, immaculately kept and beautifully decorated.
We stayed in a beach chalet which was lovely, nice big rooms, great bathroom especially the shower and literally steps from the beach, an area of which was reserved for people staying in the chalet's. You could get a lift to and from the chalet on a golf buggy, if you started walking you were quickly picked up en route.
Hotel facilities were faultless. The food and service both great in all the bars and restaurants. The choice of food in the buffet restaurant was very extensive, the a la carte restaurants only had a few items on the menus but the food was still good. Swimming pools were well designed with plenty of space around them for sun loungers and you were never far from a beach bar.
We hired a driver for a day (8 hours) and went into Dubai, the driver took us round all the sights and we had some time in the shopping centre (the world's largest) and I would recommend this if only to see the water fountain display which runs every 20 minutes.
My one grumble is that the all inclusive was not in fact all inclusive. In most of the restaurants it only gave you an allowance of 70d each which was in most cases not enough to cover a 2 course meal; though it didn't cost much to pay the difference and it's still well worth it if like us you like to have a few drinks.

In 2008 we stayed at the RAK Hilton which we thoroughly enjoyed even though it was a bit dated, this time we decided to try the RAK resort & spa and we certainly made the right decision. We were only using the hotel as a base as we were also visiting relations.
If you are staying onsite for all of your stay, then go all inclusive. The main restaurant was really good loads of choices and with a fussy son it was good to see him trying many different foods which he would never eat at home.
We were in the deluxe rooms (same level as the reception) overlooking the pool area which fully met our needs, nice to have a safe in the room. During our visit at the end of July it was 50deg so pleased of the air conditioning.
One tip, once you have finished with your towel, make sure you hang it up either on the bath or basin towel rack. If you do not, the cleaner will take the towels. After a few days the reserve towels stored in the bathroom will be gone. It then took me three phone calls and a trip to reception before I could get any more (three hours in total before they were replaced)
Pools were hot but I did not find this an issue just the paving can get very hot
We only went for 5 day but did Dhow cruise to Oman, Burj Khalifa, Desert Safari, camel rides, belly dancing show, water park the list goes on!
Overall a fantastic place and treated well by all of the staff, planning to return in the near future.

We booked a weeks break through Virgin Holidays - The flight both coming & going were to the usually high standard
When we arrived at the hotel the reception check in was fast & efficient. The rest of our break followed on the same lines. Our room was to a high standard & always kept clean & tidy by our housekeeper Komang. There was always something too one's liking at every meal time & all reseraunt staff were helpful & pleasant. It has to be said that in this resort even with the high number of guests the Sports bar staff were unbeleivable - When you walked into the bar Dee or Mary would have our drink poured & to you as you were sitting down.
I will definately be returning to this resort

Many thanks for a great holiday - Gordon

This is our second stay at this fab hotel this year. We had a week at the end of April and just got back 02/10 from another 7 night stay.

If anything it was even better as we knew the resort and the layout and all the different restaurants and bars etc.

As we were return guests we had a few little extras like fruit in the room, turndown service with chocolates and a newspaper every day on our door. We were once again in a deluxe sea view room with the most comfortable bed anyone could ever have the pleasure to sleep in and huge walk in shower, bath and all the usual facilities.

We stayed on an AI basis but ate at the other restaurants on a few occasions where you pay if you go over 70 dirhams. The food and drinks are very, very good and I think someone would have to be extremely picky to find fault.

Staff are lovely and quite a few remembered us from our last visit. They work so hard to give you a good service and I did get annoyed when I heard an English man at breakfast shout quite loudly at the waiter because he didn't get his coffee quickly enough!! There is just no need for this sort of behaviour.

I have seen some reviews on here where people have complained that that the large sea water pool with the swim up bar was too hot. Well if these people chose to look they would have seen notice around the pool stating that it was not temperature controlled and I personally found it very pleasant to sip the odd cocktail in. The other pools were cooled down and were refreshing and cool.

I won't go on and on now as it was our second visit and you can read my first review if you want to. Suffice to say that I will definately be going back again and can't wait.

Oh one last thing - it was very hot, much hotter than we visited in April but hey the sun is what we go for so don't moan and groan about the heat or go elsewhere.

Stayed for 10 days at the resort as a chance to unwind from a hectic year. beach holidays are not my thing in general but this served its purpose exactly. The Food was superb and we went on the AI option which even if you are not a drinker is worth thinking about. The staff were very helpful and polite and even if the service was a little slow on occasion we forgave them as they really do want to please you. If you want a holiday where there is nothing to do other than relax then this is it. Yes there are a few excursions into Dubai and the obligatory desert safari but this is a place where you just relax and do nothing. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the A La Carte restaurants above our expectations. Will definately consider coming back here for a recharge of the batteries in the future.

GENERAL-We wanted a relaxing sunbathing holiday. We like to do nothing but chill. Last year we stayed at Hilton Ras Al Khaimah Hotel on the creek and traveled by bus to this hotel daily. We made a big mistake so this year we learnt our lesson and stay at the resort and spa. Don't get conned into staying at the hotel (Creek) make sure u book the RESORT AND SPA. We thought oh its cheaper and how bad can it be, we were wrong.

ROOM-We stayed this year in a Beach Villa @ the Resort, it was ideal we had 2 double beds, double sinks, dress room, bath, shower everything we needed plus it was 1 step from our garden to the beach.

PACKAGE-We were only half board and on reflection we should of gone all inclusive. However we traveled to the local mall on the free bus one night and brought cans of drink and crisps/snacks for lunch that were really cheap. We also purchased beer in the duty free shop in reception so this saved us loads as Drinks in resort are expensive. £4 for a can a coke £6 for a beer at the pool. 20P a can at supermarket and £1 a beer in duty free.

FOOD- loads of choice and it varies every night however you do have an allowance to use at one of the other restaurants in resort, Asia, Steak, seafood. etc. We ate at the Asia it was lovely and quite reasonable.

POOLS- alot of the pools are Salt water and warm. There are 2 large temperature controlled pools which are more cooling and refreshing.

They have just started building a new part of the hotel but from the beach and the pool we sat we didn't hear any noise or see anything. We had to walk to the edge of the resort and climbed a lighthouse to take the photo on here.

We love this resort and will be returning nxt year. We booked with Value added travel they provided the best deal and incredible service. The main hotel is exclusive to Virgin but these Beach/pool villas are nicer
