Thee island has its attractions and the fortress is certainly worth a visit, but getting there, and getting around once you are on the island, isn't easy. There is no tourism infrastructure. No maps, interpretive guides, and no shuttle to take you out and about this beautiful and historic place. We took a bus, which dropped us far from where we were told we were. Luckily, we speak Russian and got reoriented, but walked miles in the hot sun while doing it. It's expensive, but take a taxi on an hourly rate unless you love to bike, hike or have a car.
