Myself and a couple of colleagues had a day stop in Accra and were booked into the Protea. Having such a short stay meant that a hotel near the airport would be good. The Protea was no more than 3-4 minutes away by taxi.
Arriving at breakfast time we decided to go straight into the restaurant for breakfast which consisted of an excellent buffet. The view from the back of the hotel is stunning with Lake Victoria spread out as far as the eye can see beyond the well manicured gardens of the hotel.
The rest of the day was spent by the pool which was well maintained with very comfortable sun loungers. At lunchtime they were serving a buffet in the restaurant but we decided to have a bite to eat by the pool.
A couple of us went for a swim in Lake Victoria which the staff said was safe to swim in. Research later on the internet gave lots of information about Bilharzia (snail disease) which can be a problem....oh well ,fingers crossed!
My room was well equipped and clean with a pleaseant bathroom.
In the evening we ate in the restaurant from the menu as there was no buffet. The food was OK but I could have done with a bit more.
I have stayed in Entebbe before but this is the best hotel by far and I would be more than happy to stay again.
