“Community based rescue center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

Definitely worth a visit, as you have little or no chance of seeing most of these deadly creates in the wild. Not for squeamish especially around feeding time.
The animals are rescued and given another chance...

“Fascinating day trip from Kampala”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Understated set-up, run by very knowledgeable staff who really care about the reptiles. A cheap day out (but feel free to donate more to this worthy cause) - the kids will love it, especially handling the snakes and chameleons (not compulsory however!) Don't be scared, it's a real eye-opener! The team also operate a community function: rescuing snakes from compounds where the snakes would surely be exterminated, regardless of whether they pose a risk to humans or not. (Very few snakes do). Sensitisation is a key part of the project. Not sure if a guide is always there so ring in advance. The owner is a mine of information and has plans to develop the centre.

“Once in a Lifetime Chance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

This place is not "state of the art" or fancy, but I challenge you to find another place on earth, for $2, where you can see such a deadly collection of venemous snakes anywhere on earth.
"Snake", the founder, is a wonderful resource and his love of snakes and passion for educating local villagers about the ecology of snakes has led him to create Uganda Reptile Village. His hope is to educate villagers about the role that snakes play so they will stop automatically killing any snake they see.
Elementary schools take field trips to Uganda Reptile Village. Snake also offers to help with snake removal should local citizens find an unwanted reptile in their house or on their property.
All in all, a great place to support.

“Lovely place to spend an hour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

If you're normal you'll need a 4x4 to get there. If you're brave like us and don't own the car your driving go ahead. A very bumpy road, we had to bail to make the car lighter a few times.

A great place with lots of deadly snakes!! We had a great guide, who was a volunteer. Very informative. Highlight was seeing Chameleons upclose. Great gardens so would be nice to bring a picnic- though check if you are allowed to eat on the premises.

Lots of conservation and local awareness projects happening. A worthwhile venture to support
