“One night in Trabzon”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

An overnight stay touristing while on busniess in the area. Expensive hotel for what you get - service ambivalent. English bar was closed for a meeting! Swimming pool is a paddling pool. Gym not bad for a hotel. Lots of people serving but all half asleep. Omlette and fries were OK but fries arrived 15 mins after the omlette because the oil had to heat up.
Well situated hotel for Trabzon town centre. Noisy street life but rooms are air conditioned - so with windows closed noise is not a problem.
Attractive open spaced foyer with fountain.
Rooms well appointed but smallish. Take care with hotel phone - colleague knocked up $1000 + calling USA - rip off telephone rates.

Room Tip: Avoid street side if you want quiet with windows open. Otherwise not much in it.

Arrived in Trabzon late from our road trip and just liked the look of this hotel and walked in. Its really nice. Very professional staff and English speaking. Lovely spacious rooms and very clean and comfortable bed. The only problem was the sound of the music from the bar across the street which went on late into the night. So don't get a room on the main street side. The breakfast was really nice. Overall we had a great stay . And it has its own parking space.

The small city of Trabzon feels linked to the 1950s, the 1970's and also to the Millenium. This feels true of the Korlu - some parts of parts of it attempt to be a modern 5 star hotel. The reception is friendly, computerised and effecient. However, up on the 4th floor, the room is very average 4-star - a soon to be sad carpet - although clean - with a couple of stains. And almost bare walls - with a view onto shops on the other side of the street - and a tiny bathroom. The breakfast too, although quite adequate - lacks the choice of freshly chef-made fried eggs or omelette - or other eggcentricities to start the day. And I forgot to mention that the corridors seem to lead around and around the 4th floor - with a feeling that you may have got out of the elevator into Kafka's castle. In short - if you can get a 40-60 euro special deal - it's a snip. However, about that figure, unless you want to stay in what probably is the best hotel in town - I'd keep the euros for a splurge on lunch and dinner - and sleep in one of the recommended 3-star hotels in town.

This hotel had all the trimmings of a 5 star hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It is situated in the very centre of the town which makes for easy comings and goings throughout the day. The toen itself is just another city. The hotel was not able to help us greatly with tourist information, something it could easily improve on.

If you can fit this hotel in your holiday budget whilst in ghe Black Sea area, you will not be disappointed.

This hotel has the best location in Trabzon and free parking, the breakfast and the rooms are good too. In short a good business hotel, which was why we were there. However hotel definitely needs a bit more sparkle to make it 5-star worthy, it is a bit bland and unimaginative in service and execution. Also, it is not great value at the current prices but I presume this is due to lack of competition.

I wonder why someone describe this hotel as an old one. It is really nice hotel with modern interior, beautiful lobby, moderate size rooms with comfortable bed, bathroom with all the necessary things, TV with lot of channels, included English ones, In the room there were complimentary fruits and small bottle of vine. Staff in helpful and polite, breakfast also OK with Turkish and European foods. As for location, it could not better for business, as well for shopping - right in on the main street. And one more advantage - free parking. So, you can really enjoy your stay in the hotel.

Room Tip: Choose room with street view.

As anothe user wrote the hotel is nice, but it feels dated. If you told me this hotel was only 10 years old, I would be shocked, cause it feel a lot older than that from all the details. Hair dryers look like a throw back to the 80s. The location is good being in a busy area with lots of food and shopping opportunities.

I realize that Turkey isn't as alcoholicly minded as most hotels, but when I won't downstairs at 630 to grab at drink at the "Irish bar" I walked in with my friend to find the bar completely empty with no lights on and a conference room setup. Odd. Upon asking the front desk they said they would serve us in the lobby. We ordered gin and tonics, and I'm not sure what the heck it was, but it wasn't tonic. We asked for the tonic bottle, since the usually allows us o see what is served, and after 3x asking we got a glass of something. It wasn't tonic because it wasn't fizzy or resembling tonic in taste. Oh well.

In general, I know this isn't a common tourist area so, for the location and the room quality, I think it is good, but for the prices they charge, it's hard to justify. In the future if more people go there, I am sure they will need to revamp or else change their prices.
