“DEFINITELY not a 5 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2011

The hotel website makes this place look fantastic, and on our arrival just before Easter this year, the first impressions were that the website was accurate. The lobby creates a lovely impression and the rooms are very clean, modern and spacious. We were in a room at the front of the hotel which overlooked the hotel opposite - a modern hotel but hardly a spectacular view! The best rooms are at the back, overlooking the pool and pine forest. The pool itself is ok - plenty of sunbeds, a few slides, nice forest view, nice and clean. The only annoying thing was the irritating turkish pop music they insisted on blasting out loud most of the afternoon.
So now the bad stuff. The food is average at best, though that depends on your standards. Great if you like chips but that's probably the best it gets. Plenty of choice every day in the restaurant, but everything tastes so bland and is always overcooked and smothered in oil. Even plain rice was cooked in oil! It's a shame as so many dishes look deceptfully appetising! We wondered if it was just Turkish food, but we ate out one day and proved that theory wrong. The hotel's "speciality" a la carte restaurant is no better. The food was exactly the same, in fact it was wheeld down from the bufffet restaurant! It took an age to cook and the tables were so close together we had to whisper our conversations.
The staff at reception are just plain rude. This may seem insignificant, but on Sunday we asked for the table tennis bats (advertised as a free activity) and we were fobbed off by everyone, being sent on a wild goose chase by staff not bothered to help. (By the way, the bats are a joke - completely worn out and almost useless). Arriving back where we started with the receptionist, we asked to speak to a manager only to be told all managers were off on a Sunday - in a 5 star hotel?? She reluctantly summoned the restaurant manager, who was completely clueless and rude, then walked away laughing while we were talking to him! The bar staff are also arrogant and rude.
In our room all of the English TV channels were unwatchable, and the hot water wasn't very hot!
The guy at the hotel spa persuaded us to try the "VIP Package" including turkish bath, face mask, massage etc, and promised a refund if we didn't like it (£40). Well, it was all rubbish. We've had many spa treatments and I've studied the techniques myself - these masseurs were plain hopeless!! Did we get a refund at the end though? Nope, it was never going to happen.... The treatments are available elsewhere for a fraction of the cost.
On the whole we had a mainly pleasant stay in a very average hotel. I have no idea why and by whom they awarded 5 star status. We paid a very good price of ££17 each per night all inc, (from onthebeach.co.uk) which we think was an excellent price. However I don't think we could justify paying much more than that to put up with the poor service and food.

just got back this morning, hotel very clean, food good, It is my second time to turkey and this hotel ticked all the boxes, booked with thomas cook and i would go with them again, Jo the rep for thomas cook was on hand for our questions and gave great advice. I travel abroad about three times a year and she certainly comes through as one of the better reps,(thomas cook take note). The markets are ok but the sellers keep bothering you to buy, so for me one market outing was enough.Internet connection in the hotel was poor, no connection for nearly two days.

We have recently returned from this hotel, we loved it and would definatelty recommend it. With regards to the comments about the food being poor quality and repetitive: we thought the food was nice and varied, yes it was repeated the second week we were there, but isnt this the case in every hotel. we never had any problems in the restaurant with the staff, they were very helpful made us feel very welcome and never once swiped our plates away! the tables were always clean no dirty tablecloths when we were there!

Bar : had a good choice of drinks, effes was nice and cold, this area was sometimes crowded, but the staff worked really hard and did their best to keep the queues down, they were always smiling and made us feel very welcome.

Pool : didnt go in much as it was extremely cold, but hey it was only april, the start of the season! and a shame it hasnt got a shallow area! it was kept nice and clean.the only down side were the loungers these were too close together.

Snack Bar : staff very cheerful and chatty, good chice of snacks and drinks, area kept nice and clean.

A la carte : we used this once, the food was very nice when it finally arrived,it took around 1 hour between every course!!

Rooms : were nice, they were spacious and were kept clean and tidy,

Overall we had a great holiday here and would deffinately recommend it,the staff we found were all very nice and approachable, they were very helpful and we had no problems with any of them,
The thomas cook rep Jo (feel free to take this lovely lady some tetleys teabags hahaha) was also very welcoming and helpful, she had to put up with some very rude people, some of who werent even thomas cook guests. As they saying goes"treat people as you would like them to treat you".she was always there to help us,a little respect goes a long way!!!! (feel free to take this lovely lady some tetleys teabags)

For what we paid for this holiday we found it very good (325). Yes, I agree that the food was repetative and often warm, but we always enjoyed what we ate. However, oddly there was very little potatoes other than chips. Being only 4 years old, the hotel was in good order and very clean, with numerous staff. We were fortunate to have room 520 overlooking the pool with sun most of the day. Entertainment team tried their best but evening entertainment room was small, many adults preferred using ground floor lobby lounge to socialise. Too cold to sit outside. First two days rained and was quite chilly, however after that it was very hot and we got a lovely tan.
I must stress that we flew with Thomas Cook and the 4 hour flight was terrible. Going out we had back seats which did not recline, having severe arthritis, this was extremely uncomfortable and in time painful.. Coming home at 3am, three spare seats were visible (with extra legroom) and my friend asked cabin crew if I could sit there as I had severe arthritis, she was very rudely told NO, PEOPLE PAY FOR THOSE SEATS. The seats remained unoccupied....
All in all, a good holiday for what we paid. Beware, Turkey is no longer a cheap holiday.....2 cokes and 2 coffees in beach side cafe £8. Hundreds of pounds saved going all inclusive. In airport, small water and coffee £7.

Room Tip: towels provided, no tea coffee facilities in room

Nice loooking hoitel but food awful;- lukewarm or cold with school dinner queues for it.

We went all inclusive but ended up eating out as the food was so poor.

Also pool music every afternoon was disco boom boom music, Ok for midnight in a night club but no good for mixed guests mid afternoon trying to relax.

Avoid and book somewhere else in Marmaris is my opinion

Room Tip: Eat Out.

This is a really lovely hotel, very comfortable and spacious rooms with plasma TVs (featuring UK stations!) but the food was monotonous/repetitive and was warm or cold. There was 'steamed fish' on the menu everynight but these were small, tasteless fish with no other variation. The only exception was the Al la Carte restaurant where we were treated to some really nice grilled fish. The desserts were very nice, lots of Turkish and other sweets but the fruit was limited to oranges or apples (even though we went to the market and bought strawberries and saw melons, grapes etc). We went out to eat for a change. There was also a problem with the internet in the lobby - this was intermittent or poor. Overall, a lovely hotel, but greater variation in the food, hot food and a heated outdoor pool would have made this a better hotel

Me and my partner went to Grand Pasa Hotel in April 2011 and had an amazing holiday. We booked up for two weeks and could have easily stayed on longer. When we arrived we were amazaed at the hotel as it was very grand and very very clean. We arrived at 5am in the morning and they seen us to our room, which was not a pool view ( this got changed first thing in the morning ) as we got settled we were offered some food and they kindly brought up some sandwitches at no cost at all.

First day for breakfast: was not a massive selection but something for everybody. I enjoyed an omlet made right their by cheif and u can request toppings of your choice. Plenty of cerial selection and also cold meat sandwiches to make up. Over the two weeks again very pleased with the breakfast. Accross fro hotel we also had a bar called Diana .... they done good english fry ups for a wee change if required.

Lunch - best part of the day .. all day long you have a great selection of food from burgers, chips, salad, chicken kebab (which is amazin btw) to dinning inside to get a larger selection of stir fry chicken and pasta ect

Dinner - This was average and again always had something for everyone. Lots of chicken dishes which i seemed to enjoy most. We also visited a few other places for dinner which included Diana bar again for a steak and the other resturant accross road from it both were amazing! From the one accross the road the spag ball pizzad were amazing!

The hotels location was also great as we could walk to shops or beach very easily, the beach was not upto much anyway to be honest!
We spent most of our days at the pool, the anim, ation team are excellent and have fun n games all day and really go out their way to get you involved with no preassure if you want left alone. They have lots for both kids and adults to do during the day and at night.

One of our best holidays yet for me and my partner and have decided to take my son back in October for a week.

Highly recomend a visit to Grand Pasa Hotel, anyone who left a bad review must be extremely hard to please and like moan in my opinion.

Suitable for all ages and groups.

Room Tip: Take own drink out clubbing! Expensive out!!!!!
