My boyfriend and I stayed at the Cettia between 23rd and 31st May 2008.
Prior to getting there, as most we were a tad unsure what to expect.
During the transfer it appeared that the hotel was quite a distance from the beachfront/main drag. We arrived at the hotel and on first impressions were impressed.
We arrived during the early hours of the morning and found the reception staff very pleasant. A smartly dressed porter assisted us with our cases to our room and was also very pleasant.
Upon entering our room we thought it was very nice. Nice decor, double bed, spotlessly clean, nice bathroom which was well lit. It had a mini fridge which was big enough to store bottles of water. Only thing we didn't like was the view from the balcony which was a fire exit and the side of a building! Oh well, it's not as if we were intending on spending the whole of our holiday on the balcony!!
We missed breakfast and lunch on the first day but managed to get an english brekkie from the hotel next door. We went straight on to have a Turkish bath which was excellent. This was in the hotel spa which provides a variety of treatments from massage to waxing to manicures and pedicures. We have been to Turkey before and had turkish baths before. This one was by far the best! There is a gym however it is not the best. Most of the equipment is broken unfortunately. My boyfriend is a dedicated weightlifter but made do with what he had there. He literally piled every weight he could find onto a barbell which gave him a bit of a workout!!
The pool is a good size and there are plenty of sunbeds. There is a large slide into the mainpool which kept children (and some adults!) entertained thoroughout the day. There is also a small kiddies pool, which also has a smaller slide for the smaller kids.
The entertainment team all work extremely hard throughout the day. There are activities including water polo, darts, water aerobics, some kind of dance (macarena type thing) which they did everyday that the kids really enjoyed doing on the poolside! There's no pressure to join in the activities (I didn't actually join in with any of them...my aim is to do as little as poss on hols!)
The hotel/entertainment staff lay on a coach/minibus to run from the hotel at 2315 to go to Bar Street (near the harbour) and get you into the clubs/bars and get you a free drink. The coach then returns to the Cettia at 0230. Of course you don't have to return with them if your wanting to stay later.
FOOD/DRINKS....
Breakfast....basically, don't expect a full english!! You get cereal, boiled eggs, turkish ham/meats/cheese, french bread, oranges/apples, honey/jams/preserves and tea/coffee/juice.
Lunch...salad, some kind of stewed meat, turkish ham/meats/cheese, french bread, omelettes, pizza, spag bol(kind of anyway!), chips, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, burgers (which weren't too good at all)
Snacks...omelettes, pizza, spag bol(kind of anyway!), chips, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, burgers (which weren't too good at all)
Dinner...soup, stewed meat, rice, chips, salad, chicken/fish on BBQ
To be honest we found the food a little boring and repetitive but it's as expected for all inclusive really. We did eat out one night but managed to get by at the hotel for most of the holiday.
There are Cettia apartments which are just across from the hotel. Their pool is like an oasis of calm compared to the hotel!! And they do a very good breakfast which we had a couple of times, which was only 4YTL (about £2)...definately worth it!!
There is the "Cettia Paparazzi" guy who takes photos throughout the day and night. He'll take a load of pics if you ask him to and will put you in some cringey poses but you can choose which pics you like and which you don't.
There is a hairdressers and jewellers but you're better off walking to the main drag for jewellery. You'll get a better deal.
The beachfront/maindrag is about 1km (3/4 of a mile) away. If thats too far to walk you can jump on a dolmus bus that costs peanuts!!
Overall...probably wouldn't go back to Turkey (been a few times) but if we ever do we'd go back to the Cettia. It is a noisy pool area but you can always go across to the apartments pool for some peace and quiet. Loads for the kids but if you want peace and tranquility don't got to the hotel!!!
We have read many reviews about rude Russians etc. We didn't actually meet anyone other than people from the north of England or Essex!! There were a few Eastern Europeans there but we didn't have any problems with them at all. If anything some of the Brits were rude and obnoxious to some of the staff and other guests which was quite embarassing really!!!
