“new owners, worth a go”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2011

The initial reaction to this hotel was, shall we move? Glad we didn't. These people don't tolerate you as a guest, they welcome you as a friend. Never been anywhere else where you can drink tea with the owner or read Winnie the Pooh to his son (English and Turkish). The rooms were basic and clean. The food was good, typical Turkish breakfast, evening meals were varied. Didn't go hungry. New owners, work in progress. We have visited much grander establishments, but none so friendly as Melodi. Walk away from the front to the main road, handy location for any excursion pickups, and booking office (friendly/eccentric booking agent, Alberto). 'Always' bar were welcoming and friendly.

Room Tip: You don't live in a hotel room.

Booked this hotel at short notice in transit from Rhodes to Fethiye, as our hotel in Fethiye was not open for a few days. Read previous postings with some trepidation. The hotel is under new ownership from 2011. Therefore previous bad comments about the management should be ignored. Başa (Basha) and his mother could not have been more welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed on half board and the food was excellent. The breakfast was the standard Turkish breakfast of cheese, tomato, hard-boiled egg, cucumber and bread honey and butter, so no surprises there. The evening meals were varied and delicious. Definitely value for money. Only 50 m from beach and 15 min stroll to centre of Marmaris.

In 2009 we stayed in a large beautifull but rather impersonal hotel and this year I wanted to stay in a small family owned hotel and that was just what we found at the Melodi. Mehmet, Karim, Chico and all the gang were fantastic and I had a wondrfull holiday in no small part due to them, They were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
The pool was a good size and where else would you find a tortoise tucked up in your paper as it stops to have a snooze on its walk round the pool?
Yes the rooms are basic but they have a fantastic cleaner and remember what you are paying for it. It is VALUE for money!
Foodwise I would recommend the testi kebab made at the Melodi. It was beautifull and a local speciality, so good we are still talking about it now! Havent managed to recreate it yet.
We have stayed in a few different hotels in Marmaris but we had the best holiday staying at the Melodi and will definately be back
Just writing this makes me smile when I think about it.
We also met some lovely guests at the hotel - a special mention to the ladies from the valleys!!
So Mehmet lookout I am coming back with my Irish Gypsy!!

What can I say about the Melodi, but that the staff are fantastic. Made my holiday that more special. Yes the rooms and breakfast are average, but you get what you pay for. We wanted a small family run hotel and thats what we got. Stayed in more expensive hotels, but never had the personal service that we got here.

The hotel may have a few minor issues that need to be ironed out, and that will take time and is very fixable. I have never felt more welcome at a hotel in my life, and never met better owners and staff.
Will definately be back next year to visit all my friends at the Melodi.

Signed the Irish Gypsy.

I had originally booked the melodi hotel after Gold trail went into administration. I booked through Thomas cook and paid a total of 738.00 for both myself and my partner for two weeks which i thought was really good.

We arrived at the melodi hotel around 8am and where told we had a room on the third floor. I asked if we could have a higher level and they said this was fine so we got a room on the firth floor which was great. We were taken up to our room and when ly the hotel worker opened the curtains i couldnt believe my eyes - Our balcony looked right out onto the sea and we had a lovely few of the entire bay! There was also an aqua park infront of the hotel but as we were on the firth floor this didnt ruin our view.

Rooms - Our room was clean and our towels and beds were changed everyday which i thought was great considering the hotel was only three star. The maid was also very pleasant and would come back if you wanted to have a lie in which was nice. The toilet was also ok appart from the shower curtain which wasnt great but water was always warm in the evening which was good as this is when you are getting ready to go out. We paid 56 pounds for the air con for two weeks which we were aware of in advance anyway. We didnt bother with a safe.

Pool - Not the cleanest of pools that i have seen and a few people had ear infections but to be hounest we still used it throughout our stay. Pool bar also served drinks and snacks daily and prices were not tooo bad however it did annoy me a bit that we couldnt buy water or anything else from anywhere else outside the hotel. One day my partner bought a can of irn bru from the shop accross from the hotel and one of the hotel workers said to him about it - I simply explained that they didnt sell it so he was intitled to buy it. The shop at the side of the hotel is not part of the hotel but we still used it - the little man who works there is very pleasant and his shop is also very cheap which is good.

The food at this hotel wasnt great but the chip buttys were ok. There are plenty of restaurants around the resort so finding somewhere isnt a problem. The taj mahal restaurant in the centre is amazing best food i've ever tasted. At the hotelEverything gets put on a tab but some of the guests were unhappy about this as they said that everything on the tab wasnt what they had had. So in the end we just paid for things as we bought them! The water is much cheaper if you buy it from shops outside the hotel.

The music around the pool wasnt a problem!! all the staff were also very friendly - a lovely group of people who we will keep in touch with, We also met new friends who we will also always speak to.

We done a few excurisons including quad biking which was fab and also went on the boat trip which is a must.
Overall an ok hotel but we wouldnt return think next time we will go for a 4 or five star in marmaris and also all inclusive because we spent so much on drinks.

I booked the melodi hotel for a week in august. myself and my auntie stayed for a week . The hotel is basic but clean and tidy and the nicest staff you could ever meet . I have
stayed at higher star hotels in turkey and this beats them!!! The hotel room was basic but was clean and we didnt make a complaint about anything. Some people are just too fussy and want a 5 star hotel and maid service but dont wanna pay the price!!!! Ypu get what you pay for here !!
We booked b/b which breakfast is a turkish breakfast which you should expect as you are in turkey!!!!! We also ate in the hotel a few times which did a nice full english which was 5tl which is really cheap as you cant even buy a sandwich at home 4 that and the brekkie was lovely.

The staff at this hotel are fantastic. we were delayed so we got there early morning and the staff couldnt have been any friendlier bringing us coffee and asking us if we wanted breakfast. The staff were always happy to help you and nothing was ever too much to ask. The staff always got involved with entertainment and we had a few pool matches !

the hotel is in a fantastic location only a 2min walk to beach and shops perfect location especially if you are taking children as the waterpark is literally outside the hotel you can see it from the balcony .
Pool was good size and always clean and there was always a good atmosphere at this hotel day or night.
Ignore the people who moan about the noise Yes the music is on but it gets turned off at 12 so whats the problem you are on holiday after all and other people do like listening to it!!!
Overall had a fantastic time at this hotel and will defenitly return but next time it will be for 2 week!!!!

KEREM ,CICI, AND REST OV YOU KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND HOPEFULLY CYA SOON!!!!
