“A little piece of heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

Four of us (2 couples) stayed for one week from 20 August. One week was not long enough, this place is amazing! If you are looking for a relaxing holiday at an adults only all inclusive resort then this is the place to go. We will definitely be back.

Book a spa treatment and also a meal in Gunes restaurant, both highly recommended.

Don't think any other holiday will top our first night here when we jumped into the pool fully clothed to join the Bride and Groom and a lot of other hotel guests! Apparently this was the hotel's first ever wedding and the first (and last) time the pool was used at night. Was so nice to join in this wonderful occasion, we wish the Bride and Groom all the best.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for posting your review on Trip Advisor. I am very happy to read that you had such a fabulous stay and enjoyed our location, spa as well as the Turkish Gunes A la carte experience.
We were very honoured to have organised our very first wedding for the bride and groom here at the Imperial, it was fabulous that all our guests joined in the celebrations.

Just returned from this little gem of a hotel, we had viewed it on trip advisor prior to booking and never expected it to be this good, you always expect a surprise somewhere along the way. For us it was a perfect weeks get away, no children, great accommodation (we upgraded to a suite which was very spacious and on a lower level in the resort room 801). We had two bedrooms, a twin with separate shower and toilet, and a double with on suite shower and toilet. Plenty of hanging and draw space for clothes with lots of hangers. The lounge had a large LCD TV, two sofa’s with tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge, water was replaced throughout the stay and is easily obtainable in fridges throughout the complex. The balcony looked out to sea through pine trees and we loved to sit and watch the squirrel in the mornings whilst having our morning coffee. There were air conditioning units in the lounge and double bedroom. No maid on a Wednesday you are warned about this and can contact reception if there are any issues. Overall very happy with our room which was well maintained and cleaned, I can see that if you have mobility issues this hotel may not be for you, it is on a hill and some apartments are many steps up and the hill is steep in places you are warned about this by Thomsons and you can request a buggy ride to and from your apartment with reception.
Food was plentiful with an extensive selection, all of an excellent quality and much of it freshly prepared at the show cooking stations, the staff were great smiling and happy to engage with you. Peak times for eating were 8-8.30 so we tried to avoid that time when possible which gives a seat selection and more relaxed environment. The alcoholic spirits are local brands and not the best; it helps if you ask for more to be added as they are on the weak side. The beer is ok. You can purchase different wine and branded spirits if you wish but that’s expensive.
The two pools, jetty and beach areas had plenty of sun beds and were all well maintained at all times, you can only get beer as alcohol at the beach no spirits. Plenty of water and soft drinks. Our favourite was the relax pool nice and tranquil, the other pool had music but not invasively loud.
The entertainment was varied, quizzes, shows and disco not for us but looked ok.
We feel much of this is due to the superb Thomson holiday advisors who clearly have a good relationship with the hotel team. They even let us borrow a plug adaptor and gave a good welcome meeting one of the best we have been to and we don’t like going usually.
We flew from Norwich Airport with Freebird Airways (provided by Thomson) it was ok however very tight on space in general and we are not large people, the booking in on return from Dalaman airport is slow. Transfer from airport to hotel was 90 mins.

We would certainly return without hesitation.

Room Tip: we paid the extra to upgrade to a suite, well worth the money and we would certainly do it again.

Superb holiday, loved everything, could not find one fault. Everyone made us feel so welcome especially the Thompson Reps. The food was excellent, the pools, the room, the bars, the Spa, in fact just the perfect holiday. Have the Turkish bath, what an experience!!!!
Came home relaxed and will most definitely be going back.

Room Tip: Ask for a low level room if difficulty in making the steps. The buggy service was a godsend

Fantastic location very pretty views,a lot of walking and steps so need to be quite fit, excellent accommodation very clean etc, a good variety of food.Private beach lovely plus plenty of other areas to sit and chill, also some great excursions to go on.We would've liked to be able to highly recommend it however there is one area which badly lets this lovely hotel down and that is the quality of drinks on offer in the all inclusive package, for a 4star plus hotel there was no fresh juices on offer only watered down sweetened squash etc. Which they also used to make up the cocktails which were undrinkable to us because of it. The alcoholic drinks e.g. wine, there was only one choice of local red wine at the table which we in our opinion tasted awful, when we asked for other local choices of wine we were told there were only different wines available if you purchased them (which defeats the purpose of an all inclusive package). There were also problems with having the local spirits some of them didn't taste very nice to us, it may have been due the mixers they used or the spirits themselves, we're unsure. This was a great shame as the hotel generally was very good and although we did enjoy our holiday this did spoil it to some degree and it may put us off returning next year, unless they address these issues, which we did raise to our rep and the hotel management.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be pretty much the same just some are further away.

Dear Steve & Co,
Thank you very much for review on Trip Advisor following your recent stay at Marmaris Imperial. I was really pleased to hear you enjoyed the layout of the hotel as well as the food and high standards of cleaning.
I am sorry to read that our All Inclusive drink concept did not meet with your expectations regarding our quality and variety of drinks, I do remember speaking to you and your party regarding this. Let me just explain to you once again and for the benefit of future guests as to what is actually included in a typical 4 star plus hotel which states locally produced drinks. Local spirits are usually, gin, vodka, white rum, brandy, whiskey, beer and red, white or rose wine. Generally there is not a selection of local wines on offer in the All Inclusive package and unless stated otherwise fresh orange juice does not form part of the package either.
In a 5 star hotel the offerings are more or less the same but there are additional spirits and liquors that are not produced in Turkey, this is indicated in the description of the All Inclusive package when you go to choose your holiday. Some 5 star hotels also offer 24 hours premium drinks as well, again this is indicated in the description of the All Inclusive package.
The mixers for the spirits are all well known brands at the Imperial. I can only detail what we do offer as part of the All Inclusive drinks package and it may not be for everyone, it`s up to you to then make an informed decision regarding if you wish to holiday at Marmaris Imperial again.

I appreciate your feedback and thank you once again for your review.

My kind regards,

Sharon AY

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

My husband and our two teenage children, aged 19 and 17 have just returned from a fantastic week at the Marmaris Imperial. This was our second all inclusive holiday and our first to a couples resort. Our flights were awful arriving at around midnight, but we were collected in a very comfortable air-conditioned coach which took us directly to the hotel. Check in was swift and there were sandwiches prepared if anyone was hungry. The only problem we had was that although we had booked a double and a twin room, we were given two doubles. This would have been rectified but it would have meant moving rooms and as our rooms were adjoining with a gorgeous view through the trees to the marina and the sea our children decided they could cope for a week, ewspecially as they had a comfy tempur tyoe mattress. It was a shame ours wasn't as we did find ours a bit hard. I would warn anyone with walking difficulties because the resort is very steep being built on a hillside, but buggies are available throughout the day to take you to your rooms. We found all the staff from the cleaners to the waiters and bar staff very friendly. Our favourite was JJ behind the bar in the restaurant. Our usual waiter in the Olympos restaurant seemed to have the nickname Curly and would appear with a refill of your drink as if by magic. The food in the restaurant was excellent with the main dishes being cooked fresh in front of you. There were plenty of vegetarian options and all food is labelled for people with allergies. We went to the Gunes restaurant one night which is on the roof with stunning views, but check the menu first as there are set choices. We didn't go to the activity pool, prefering the relax pool, where we always managed to find 4 sunbeds, or the sunbeds along the rocky promontory. Wherever, you choose will be peaceful as there are no screaming kids to spoil your relaxation. The beach bar was never busy and the pancakes were delicious. We only went to the breeze bar twice during our stay, prefering the peaceful atmosphere of the Harmony bar, with the waiter insisting on bringing the drinks to your table, and stunning views out to sea and sparkling Marmaris. We did one trip to Icelemar market, which took in a leather factory (my daughter is delighted with her 'Mulberry' handbag at a quarter of the price) and a real turkish delight factory - all this for only 5 pounds per person. Most of the entertainment is from the Thomson resident duo Matt and Sarah, singing and low key quizes. We went to 2 shows in the amphitheatre, an amazing turkish folk group and another gangsater themed dance group. Beware it gets very hot in there so ladies take a fan, but the reps do provide bottles of water. We were waved off on our return by Simon(believe he's in charge of the entertainment team) which was a nice touch. We did stop briefly on our return to Dalaman and we were last to check in at the airport so we were glad we had paid to prebook our seats together. All in all we had a fabulous holiday and wish we were still there basking in 40 deg sunshine

Room Tip: We had rooms 210 and 210A which shared a balcony so good if 2 couples are travelling together. Great...

Before I start we are a well traveled couple and have stayed in all different place all over the world . So I will write this review to my best of knowledge .
We stayed here 23rd August for one week . Our first day was great just relaxing in sun the first evening we had dinner at the harmony bar which is extra but didn't mind the food was amazing and great service had a lovely time . Then I'm afraid it went down hill. We then went to evening show which was shocking to see it was worse then a Karaoke being most guessed were about the same age as us and younger listing to 50s and 60s music we last two songs . The staff spoke little English which ok your in turkey but on a English resort so expect a little more than yes and no .lol.
We had confirmation the drinks are watered down from a ex employee we met in the local town. Staff not helpful when trying to plan your holiday.
The food in the main restaurant average no way 5 star quality more like 3 star .
Entertainment staff need to be friendly as never spoke to them till last day after I complain about resort. Very limited equipment at water sports centre. I could carry on but think this is enough to give you a good idea about this place .
We still had a great relaxing holiday as got the bus into marmaris everyday and found it great boat trips £10 per person and bars and restaurants offering 5star quality food

Dear Steve & Shelly,
First of all thank you very much for spending your valuable time to review on Trip Advisor. I also received a message from you in my comment box on your day of departure. I have followed your complaints up directly with yourself as well as the rest of the team you spoke to here. Ozlem our Public Relations Manager actually went out of her way to organise a special evening at the Harmony restaurant with a song you had requested. We also met your request regarding a close room to all the amenities due to your partner being pregnant. I believe all those conversations where in a very good level of English, in addition to Ozlem most of the operational department heads as well as key staff speak good English. The staff member you spoke to on the last day was the Thomson Holiday Advisor Michael, who is available every day both mornings and evenings.

I have no idea who you spoke to in Marmaris that said the drinks were watered down, you just need to stand at the bar a few minutes to realise all bottles are sealed so there is no way we could possibly water them down, neither would we attempt to. The entertainment staff work very hard to ensure everyone has a great time and as we are delivering entertainment to a large age range from guests in their 20`s upto guests in their 70`s it is no easy task. However, we have our tribute groups, Abba, Drifters, Beatles as well as some acts in the amphi theatre a couple of times a week and our resident duo performing laid back tracks as well as our hosts Amy and Simon taking to the stage a few nights a week. We also finish off most nights with our resident DJ Ismet playing a good range of current popular songs and some old favourites for the guests that wish to dance. Entertainment can be a very personal thing so for any guests not wishing to be part of what is on the stage we have the relaxing Harmony bar for a quiet drink with waiter service.
It is over 30 years ago since I was in Butlins so I am not quite sure how we would compare today, but you seem to know better.

Thank you once again for your posting your review.

My kind regards,

Stayed here August . Wow didn't think it could be any better , stayed two years ago . Everyone is so friendly and nothing is to much trouble. Our room had wonderful views of the sunsets . The room was always clean . Sharon and her team do any amazing job to ensure that everything is perfect for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
Both times we have been we talk about going to marmaris to look around but find when we are there the peace and quiet is somgreatvthat we don't want to leave not even for a few hours.
The food , if it is possible , was better than two years ago I especially enjoyed the daily Turkish dishes that were available , had those more times than anything else they had to offer. The place is so clean and tidy and beautifully kept , well done to the whole team .
The cabana's on the jetty were a amazing , we thought at first that we wouldn't do it as paying 48 euro for the day seemed expensive , but don't hesitate it was by far the best 48 euro we have spent in a long time. Having your food brought to you and loads of drinks , in a cool box to keep them cool, an amazing day , we were lucky enough to spot two dolphins swimming close by the day we had ours, what a terrific sight. Really enjoyed the whole day, stayed and watched the sun set brilliant, would def book that again.
We are large day looking at returning Next year , looked at other couples but the location of this hotel and what it has to offer is by far the best.
Thank you once again to everyone at the hotel who makes it such a special place to stay.

Thank you very much for choosing the Imperial once again for your holidays and for your wonderful review. Myself and the entire team were thrilled to read your motivating comments, we are really pleased that you had a great time here and we were able to exceed your holiday expectations for the second time! The Deluxe Cabanas are a new edition this year and are proving very popular with our guests, the dolphins are in the bay all year round and from time to time are spotted by guests. We all look forward to seeing you both for your third visit in the very near future.
