Nice enough place, rather loud, but air-conditioning will cost £25 per appartment each week. £10 for a safety deposit box,and if you want to stay in your room beyond the 1200 checkout that will be another £12 please! And that will only get you to 2100 then your out. There was no toilet paper on arrival, and none came (bought our own), and take the twice weekly change of sheets and towels with a pinch of salt.

The Epic hotel is a nice hotel but they do have some problems.
We were staying at the epic for 2 weeks.
Upon arrival we paid for our aircon and went to our room. Our room smelt a bit funny and the air con was really rubbish especially compared to our friends room so as we had to pay for aircon we decided to complain so we went and told reception the reception woman changed our room to a much better room but it had a much smaller bathroom.
Then on one of our first nights we came in a little drunk (but not causing any trouble) it ended up with the Turkish/Londoner receptionist being very rude and trying to argue with some of my party. As a receptionist he should know how to deal with customers but he was very rude.
We then stayed away from this receptionist but he was very intimidating.
We then went on and enjoyed our holiday half way through our holiday a member of staff asked us if we would move hotel as they had a new party on a flight over to Marmaris and the hotel had overbooked we went to view the hotel they were asking us to move to and the rooms were awful! So we did not move.
The pool closes at 7pm and i was in the pool at 6.45pm a teenage pool boy was tidying around the pool he threw my stuff off my bed onto someone elses belongings he then picked up my drink and we let him know that it was my drink and we were still using our beds and he then threw my drink into the pool.
The hotel has its our restaurant at the front of the hotel the staff on there obviously ask you to come for dinner every night but not in the usual turkish manner. One member of restaurant staff in particular seemed quite angry if you werent having food there and would question why and where you are going.

I have been to Marmaris before and did enjoy the holiday but overall i would never recommend this hotel to anyone!

We had a great time in Turkey. The benefit of staying in the Epic was the friendly restaurant/bar workers in the area. Word of advice, take the restaurant/bar workers with a pinch of salt and treat their PR as fun, this way you won't feel hassled but that they are just being friendly. We found it convenient to catch the bus into the main Marmaris and from there the world was our Oyster. I would certainly recommend Mr Jacks tour guide for your trips. Mr Jack (Nuri) is very friendly and helpful. (He has the office near the pie shop). Mr Jack was friendly all week, (unlike the chappie at No names who wasn't so friendly when the holiday was nearing the end).
I would recommend the boat trip to Turunc, this is as good as any of the organised boat trips and Turunc has got to be one of the most beautiful places on earth.

As for the Epic, it was lovely and clean, the staff were attentive and friendly. The music at the pool could do with being turned down a little, this is not the best place to relax by the pool with a book, however the younger teenager folk love it. I would recommend self-catering, the fridge is useful and you get to try all the great places to eat.
I wouldn't hesitate in going back, great value for money.

My boyfriend and i stayed in this apartment in June 2008. There were some good, and some bad parts of the hotel, but overall it was an amazing holiday, however the hotel did not contribute to this very much.

Good Points.
The hotel was cleaned everyday, with freash linen and towels twice a week.

The food at the hotel bar and resturant was nice, and cheap. The price you would pay would be £6 for a meal, which is really good value, and its as nice a meal as you would get down town.

Some members of staff were plesant and made the effort to get to know you.

It is quiet, so those wanting a good nights sleep, or a relaxing holiday will find it very peaceful.

The pool is a really good size, and the slide is good for the kids (big kids too !)

The exchange rate is better than most change offices, at 2.35 when we were there, with no commisson, when most change offices were 2.31 with added commision.

The shop is cheap, with a 5L of water costing you 1.5lia, working out about 80p.

Family doctor really made us laugh (youll get to meet him!)

Bad Points.
Toilet paper was never given, therefore we had to buy our own, which the maid used to clean the floor.

Service at the pool bar was sometimes bad, depending on who the member of staff was.

The resturant staff would come around the pool everyday, pressuring us to eat at their resturant every night, not taking no for an answer, and became annoyed as we only ate their twice. They tried a guilt trip with you, so BEWARE!!! Also they waited on you leaving the hotel, asking you where you were eating etc, again trying to pressuraise you into the hotel resturant.

It is quite a distance to the centre of Marmaris. A taxi will cost you around 10lira to save a 20min walk, especially at night, where the walk back is quite dodgy.

The reception staff were very rude, and unhelpful in many situations. We were given the wrong room on arivial, and this wasnt sorted in a proffesional manner, and we had been travelling for hours, then had to wait in a room, where we couldnt unpack or sleep, waiting on another room.

Staff come around every 10mins at the pool asking if you want a drink, which can be very annoying and disrupt yur sleeping, reading etc

Music blares, and i mean blares at the pool at some points in the day, playing hardcore danced anthems, this also disturbs the peace, and can be very annoying. The language is dreadful aswell.

In conlusion this holiday was amazing, the hotel had good and bad points, and if i was staying in turkey again, and received a good deal on this apartment i would take it, as it was not the worst hotel i have every been to, then again its not the best. A holiday is what you make it, and i had a great time in marmaris :)

WEST MIDLANDS
Jun 24, 2008

Me and my parter have just returned from a very hot week in Marmaris! Temperatures were hitting 50 degrees at midday - so be warned high factor sunscreen is a must!!!
We stayed at the Epic Apartments and for the money we spent the accomodation was fine - we didn't expect much to be honest.
We stayed on a B&B basis but only ate breakfast there once (our first morning) this consisted of cheese on toast and ketchup as the breakfast provided is only continental. If we ever visit Turkey again I would definitely go self catering as you get a larger room and it is so cheap to eat breakfast out as all the restaurants compete to do the cheapest full english. We ate breakfast at yes sir (left out of the hotel over the road), the great corner restaurant (down the main road a little on the right) and the fast food shop directly opposite the hotel (Although our eggs weren't cooked properly here!). The breakfasts all range between 99p and £1.50 although the restaurant attached to the hotel 'Dream Boys' were advertising a breakfast for 80p!
Our room was rather small and basic but was ok for what we needed. A hairdryer was provided in the bathroom and was quite powerful so there would be no need to take one from home. A reminder to people who are going to the Epic - take your shower after a day at the pool early! The water is heated up by solar panels and once its gone you'll be taking a cold shower!!!
The pool area of the hotel is good apart from the main pool having no shallow end. I am 5ft 4" and I could not touch the bottom of the pool without being submerged! I ended up cooling off in the baby pool along with many other adults!!! The staff are constantly walking around asking you if you want a drink - the drinks are reasonably priced but a lot more expensive than the bottled water / soft drinks from the supermarkets. Unfortunately there is a sign saying that if you are found with food or drink around the pool that hasn't been purchased from the bar, it will be taken away by a member of staff!! I find this rude as you may not be able to afford such things - especially parents with children!!!! On a good note there are plenty of sunbeds and even if you do not surface until around lunch time the staff will sort you out a bed and a mat!
The hotel is situated quite a way out from Marmaris centre but we comfortably walked it every night. You can easily take the dolmus (bus) but this is what we prefered. It took us about 1/2 hour to walk to the beach end of Marmaris (opposite end to Harbour) where we found some lovely places to eat - the Taj Mahal indian restaurant was fantastic and so was the Manderin chinese restaurant above (both with roof terraces looking out into the town). We ate the indian twice in one week - it is more expensive than other retaurants in Marmaris but the service was fantastic!
You do get hassled a little to eat at the hotel restaurant but if we wanted to stay in the hotel we would have gone on a all inclusive holiday! The other restaurants hassle you too but not too bad - i hear that if they hassle and are caught by the police they will be closed down for a few days! One place I would recommend to eat at close to the hotel is Susan's of Bolton's pie shop - you can see it on the left hand side of the road as you step out of the hotel - it's proper fish and chip shop grub! The chips are yummy!!!
Turkey is more expensive than i thought it would be. When converting food and drinks prices back into sterling it worked out you were paying near enough the same as you would do back home.
The fake clothing etc turned out to be better than I expected. The best fake clothes, I thought, were g star raw and adidas. it is quite funny turning up at the airport at the end of your hols checking out everyones fake adidas tracksuits!! I would just warn people about the weight of your luggage on your return journey - they charge around £6 for EVERY kilo over. A couple infront of us were 10kg over and ended up having to find £60 - if you do not have the cash they point you in the direction of the cash point! So make sure your bargain fakes are a bargain by not having to pay extra to get them home!!!
All in all we had a lovely holiday in Marmaris. Would I stay at the Epic again - my answer would be probably not unfortunately. If I went again I think I would prefer to be closer to the action in the resort centre. If you have already booked up though you will have a fab holiday - the weather is gorgeous!!!
