Calis beach, Feitiya (pronounced chalis)
The most spectacular sunset I have ever seen - better than the Caribbean and Australia. Sit on the beach or have a meal overlooking the sea at 7pm to see the sun set - FANTASTIC and breath taking
Interested in Fethiye?
Fethiye is a town with Harbour . There is no beach and even the nearest one at Calis is not great.
You do have the famous shingle beach at Olou deniz about 30 minutes mini bus away but that is now very busy with millions of tourists.
Fethiye is however a great little town. Its very Turkish and the tourists are only just starting to spoil it. Beefburger and pizza shops have arrived in the past 2 years and 'fish and chips' are beginning to be advertised outside bars. All of this is of course a great shame as inevitably the Brits spoil anywhere that is culturally different from what they want.
Fethiye is still great and local food and hospitality can still be found, but , dont go there for a beach holiday because you wont get it.
My only concern is the Carole and Tayfun boat trip concession on the water front. They dont appear to give what they advertise , cutting trip times etc and then getting angry with you when you point this out. There are plenty of others to choose from.
Go to Fethiye and enjoy what is left of a lovely Turkish town with lots of history.

Hotel Oykun review coming up shortly.
We spent the last two weeks of June here in an apartment a couple of blocks back from the sea front. It was great. The people are really friendly and not pushy about selling stuff. The quality of the food in all the restaurants was good (Bella Mama's and Mama's Kitchen especially so). The younger members of the group also went to the bars at night and found them good fun, non threatening and cheap. B52s was the favourite.
The beach is very well kept but pebbly (and grey cos it's volcanic) but we had a nice pool so that didn't bother us.
there are plenty of day trips. We tried White Water Rafting which was great and a fishing trip with Gerry's boats (which is recommended if you are really interested in the fishing, cos Gerry knows his stuff).
I thought I would be a little different with this report and do a resume on PUBLIC TRANSPORT.
Most of the public buses (and there are many of them) were in perfect order with some older than others, they were mainly made up of 12-14 seater coaches.
To hail a service you only had to stand at the side of the road, and the bus would come to you, if you were walking towards the main bus rout, and the driver saw you he would pap his horn, you would intern reply with a thumbs up /down depending on the service you require, if you rquired the service and you had replied with a thumbs up the bus would stop and WAITE FOR YOU.
The service would run from 7.00 am to approx 11.00pm and a bus would come every ten minutes. and the price for this service
no matter on the length (within reason) of distance was 1.50Turkish Lire.
The only downside to this service..................there wasn't one.
Congratulations to the Turkish Bus Service.
Oh did I mention there were no set (or very few) bus stops, the drivers were realy pleased to pick up and drop off anywhere.
