Just got back from my first ever visit to the Seketur in Calis Beach and I was taken away by its position on the sea front. At the quieter end of the sea facing promenade which stretches for about 2 miles, hotel is perfect for the 30yr and upwards, the majority of guests being English who return year after year. It has very pleasant gardens, a delightful swimming pool with pool bar (run by the ever efficient Oktay) and quite a few loungers with parasols to protect the hot sun which shines ever day. It has a very pleasant breakfast lounge in a separate block from the hotel on a first floor level with the most stunning sea views, this room also serves as a dining room for those on half board (not recommended due to the 100's of fantastic choices of restaurants all along the sea front)
Rooms are spacious . with air con free of charge, well appointed modern bathrooms, comfy beds and balconies with part sea view on the majority of the rooms - always ask for rooms facing the pool or sea view (especially the new wing) as they do have about 8 rooms at the back/road-side part of the bullding which are quite dark and have very small balconies.
Another nice touch offered by the hotel, if you check out at noon and have to wait for a night flight, they will offer you a shower room to use and change for your journey home.
Two favourite restaurants to recommend on the sea front, the Merhaba (especially on a sat night when they have a singer) and the NIL Bar further down where beside the normal Turkish menu.they do a beautiful Sunday Roast for those who miss home cooking! Ask for Angel, she is a credit to the place.
If you have to tear yourself away from the hotel pool or the shinle beach, there are plenty of good and cheap excursions especially to all the surrounding islands on little gulet boats costing on average £15 for a day trip including BBQ lunch cooked and served on board
All in all, Calis Beach is a hidden gem, yet it is only a short distance from Fethyie if you want busting markets, and a small harbour - if you do go to Fethyie you must go to the fish market buy the fish of your choice and any of the restaurants in the tree covered market itself will cook it for you for a service charge of £2.00 - I have never had such a fantastic fresh meal.
So next year, forget your Marmaris and your Bodrum, go to Calis but only if you want a disco free place, it's got everyting else you could possibly want.
