Right, lets start with the bad points:

1. The room was filthy. Mosquito corpses decorated the walls of a dark dank room. We were unlucky in that our room was on the ground floor so there was no light coming in at all. The bathroom was also dirty and the hairdryer blew up twice. The first time was scary as blue flames kept shooting out of the end!

2. The food was dire. It was ok for the first day or two, but every meal was the same. Breakfast you got eggs, bread, cereal, salad etc, lunch was chips, turkish pizza, kebab and salad etc, snack was always a burger/hotdog and chips and dinner was exactly the same as lunch. Soul destroying after a while. Everything hot was deep fat fried or covered in oil so not for those who are diet conscious and unwilling to exist on lettuce for a week or two.

3. Sunbeds. I gave in after a while and started getting up to put out the towels. Although there is a policy that towels placed out before 9am will be removed this was never enforced and the reality (esp in relation to the adults only pool) was that they were all reserved by this time. There seemed to be a hardcore contingent of people who had all come together and knew others that conspired to assist each other with this too. Take their position at your peril!

4. Mosquitoes. Ok, ok, I know its a hot country and they live there. We managed to get a mosquito net after much communication with reception. We had a daily 'hunt' and often discovered more than 5 of the beasties at a time. Seen as we had blocked up the many gaps in the doors and windows we were perplexed as to where they were coming from. We realised that the maids cleaned with the doors wide open so put the 'do not disturb' sign out. Undeterred, the maids continued to enter the rooms despite this and let more in. They also failed to clean the hundreds of dead ones from the room.

5. Maids. As above. The had no regard to the wishes of the guest that they should not enter when told not to. My other half was in bed (sign on door) they still came in and cleaned around him despite being told to leave. More worryingly, there were tales round the pool about things being stolen from rooms. We didnt experience this ,but others were distresses following their experiences.

Right, good points

1. Drinks at the place were plentiful. Age seemed no bar as depsite signs saying that under 18s would not be served, anyone could get what they wanted. Seemed to be a running soap opera between male members of bar staff and 14 year old girls what provided nightly entertainment.

2. The real entertainment team were hysterical. Not in the sense that their prepared act was funny, but in that every night something went badly wrong (eg during glass walking show man actually cut his head open and had to abort performance). People were constantly falling over on patches of water and injuring themselves (guests that were dragged up to participate too). Not sure themes were appropriate for kids as always of a violent and/or sexual nature.

3. Go paragliding! It rocked. We went with Focus and would happily do it again.

I dont think we would go back knowing what we do now. the grounds were great but the rooms really let the place down. Im sure many people loved this but not of a high standard. Based on the reviews we read here we expected a lot, which we didnt get. If you have already booked then make the most of it. I'm sure if i had read this review before going then I would have dismissed it, but if you havent booked then I would consider other places. (Hotel opposie, Mavruka? looked much nicer). If you can afford it, go to Lykia world.

We stayed at Club Sun City from 24 June - 8 July '07 (2 wks). The hotel itself was nice. Our room was nice and spacious. As always, they never give you enough drawer space. Since when is the draw of a bedside table supposed to be 'adequate space' for anything but your smalls (if that). We had 2 good size wardrobes, but again, you only got to use half of it because there are never enough coat hangers. The air con in our room wasn't really up to much, but it was better than nothing. The food was very good. It was always fresh and there was plenty of it, but as other people have said, there was not really much in the way of snacks in between meal times and if you're sharing a restaurant with lots of Russians, you learn to be fast or get zip! The adult pool was really nice. You couldn't hear the noise from the kids pools. I agree totally with other reviews of the Private Beach. They've got good enough facilities, but what's with offering the all-inclusive guests a crappy cheese sandwich and nothing else when they've got kitchen facilities and will quite happily make salads, burgers and pasta for anyone who's willing to pay for it? It was a bit of a con to be honest. If you wanted a decent lunch, then you can get the free bus back to the hotel, but then you have to wait till 2.30pm to go back to the beach. We got fed up with it after a few days and went to the adult pool instead. The bar staff were miserable and they turned the lights off at midnight and told several people they couldn't have anything else to drink - when the rules are just that you have to pay after midnight (which isn't unusual at all-in hotels). The Turkish bath at the hotel is very nice, but more expensive than others in the resort. Shop around guys. Anything they offer, you can get just as good for less elsewhere.

Don't get me started about the entertainment. It's a farse! I told the animation team too. I think it was a ploy by the hotel to 'encourage' you to go elsewhere at night so you don't 'consume' too much of anything...

I wouldn't go back to Sun City - far too many kids who should still be in school frankly, but I still love Olu Deniz and Hisaronou is great at night.

  • Liked — The layout of the buildings was nice with lots of landscaping and shade
  • Disliked — The lack of decent entertainment for adults. 30 mins from the kids animation team doesn't cut it.

had a great weeks stay. The hotel and resort was really nice a bit to hot if anything they were giving out weather warnings and it reached 56 while we was there which was above normal for time of the year.
The food was lovely, as was the rooms and grounds, had a great turkish bath in the hotel which was my first as I hadnt been to Turkey before.
I was told to take euro but they wanted lira or english pound. Also although it is all inclusive you need to take towels for the beach and pool, un like all inclusive hotels we stayed before.
I would return to this resort and hotel.

Have just arrived back from a week at Sun City Resort in Olu Deniz and I'm relaxed and refreshed!
Alot of the food was fried so avoid this place if you have a heart condition! There was always a wide selection of hot and cold food and plenty of puddings! Don't leave your glasses unattended, the waiters and waitresses are under strict instructions of the manager to collect the glass whether finished or not! Waiters and Waitresses very nice and polite but Manager was quite stuck up! There are set meal times and if you miss this then you go hungry!
The entertainment is ok if you are a child but I wouldn't bother making the effort up the steps if your not.
The rooms were basic but clean with maid service every 3 days.
There are 4 pools, 3 for families and 1 for adults only, thank god for the adult pool! We went before the kids have broken up for the holidays but you would not have thought that. The adult pool was excellent if you wanted to relax in peace and as it is away from the bar you have waitress service providing you with drinks throughout the day.
The Private Beach is not Private and is also not a beach to the sea, it is a Lagoon which is also used by other hotels in the area, it was full of locals turks who were very loud and had no respect for anyone else there, our trip there lasted less than an hour!
I enjoyed this holiday but would only return if going with the family.

This holiday was the best in years .Sun City is in a beautiful location.
I did not have to worry about anything . The staff were great and the animation team worked hard to entertain the guests, The complex was safe .The food was good .Very relaxing round the pool , there is an adult only pool a pool for families ,a baby pool and an indoor pool the only downside was no lifeguard .There were a lot of mosquitos so take plenty of repellant .
I would definately recommend this holiday at sun city.
