“Very disappointing!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

I always very carefully research our holidays on both Trip Advisor and the travel company websites. I am afraid that the glowing reports the Oykun had mislead me somewhat. We did expect a more basic hotel as it was listed 3star, however we think 2star is more accurate.
Yes the family who run it are helpful and very friendly but there are many negatives.
Firstly I have never in many years travel experienced such avid sunbed bagging! We actually watched people putting their towels out at MIDNIGHT! The management do nothing.
Our room, as was the rest of the hotel was spotless, but very small, the bedding and towels were very hard due to being dried on lines in the sun, it was pitiful watching the poor laundry women carry huge bags of wet laundry past the pool to hang on lines.
The balcony was too small to sit on, just big enough to dry swimmers, and our room was so close to main route through hotel there was no privacy!
We hired a fridge, which didn't really work until we discovered they had plugged it into the socket that went off when you took out your key ! so watch that, we put it in the TV socket which was connected independently.
Break fast was hit and miss, fruit juice was diabolical, tasted like sherbert water, so we bought our own and had a glass in our room before breakfast. Always melon, with the occasional grape or plum, so we bought our own fruit and took it to breakfast. As much toast as you wanted, only if you were there at 9am the queue was so long. There were omelettes or fried eggs some days, make your own toasted cheese sandwiches some days and still the selection of cheese and salads, and hard boiled eggs. The coffee was good, but the tea OH! made in an urn, not a teabag in sight, so take your own if you want a fresh cuppa.
Sun beds very worn as were mattresses, constantly falling apart, quiet pool had some sunbeds in shade all day, It was a shame they didn't utilise the very big field nearby to make the sunbathing area larger at this quiet pool.
The hotel is well situated for the town of Calis Beach, it is not actually in Fethiye. There is a lovely promenade, lovely views and some good restaurants, our favourite was Bella Mamas.
We used the water taxi to go to Fethyie twice, once during the day, and once at night.Lovely crossings, and views.
Why people keep going back to the Oykun year after year is beyond me. We may return to the area, but certainly not to that hotel, we like our creature comforts too much!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the street which is quiet, then you won't have every guest walking past yo...

this hotel is fantastic, quiet on a night with fabulous staff, goldie the receptionist is just brilliant speaks very good english, will do anything for you. The hotel staff never stop working, the hotel is spotless and the pools are the best i have ever seen cleaned daily. The hotel is only five mins from everything, the only downside is the beach it is very stoney but only 15 lira for 2 beds and brollie which is 5 pound. The best holiday my husband and i have had, it is not for the younger generation. Luggage is weighed and checked prior to leaving, you pay for the safety deposit box and fridge. Any requests email the hotel 5 days before going they will do their best for you and send an email back to confirm. Another beach is caretta beach go to the sea front turn right and walk 10 mins up the front. Also as we have been to turkey before and this is a family resort you do not get pestered too much by the bars and restaurant.
Go to the meeting point for meals its only small but fantastic, next door the shamrock bar and cocktail bar is great.
will be returning
There is not really entertainment on the evening but this is great, so you can have a good nights sleep.
Oykun hotel keep it like this quiet and relaxing not too many families or it will be spoilt.
Went with Thomson holidays as we always do they were great, also the hotel is the first drop off and the last pick up approx 1 hour nice views in the day, however dalaman airport is expensive so if you are hungey on your return get a lunch box or sandwich from the hotel lovely they are. Try the turkish bath and massage centre under the hotel very ver good.

Room Tip: over the quiet pool is better or room 1303 on the other side top floor quiet, small balconies but ni...

Firstly can say what a lovely time we had at the Oykun. Spotlessly clean, apartments and poolside. Not sure where Lindyloo from Darlington is coming from, her appartment sounded a lot better than ours. Just myself and my wife, we were put in room 1103, very small and could do with a bit of work doing to it.
but a lovely hotel. Would I go back. Without a doubt. Yes!

we have just returned from 14 days staying at the Oyken Hotel. This time we had an appartment which had a sitting room with 2 bed setees in a full size fridge, there were only the 2 of us so it was spacious as it had a seperate bedroom, if there were 4 of you it may be tight squezze but ok if they were children. the shower and toilet area were larger than the rooms. we had one of the appartments with a balcony. As usuall the appartment, the pool area, reception.resteraunt were all immaculately clean. The hotel is family run and they are always milling about. All the staff are friendly and helpful nothing is ever too much for them and most of them have been there for a number of years. We have stopped here 3 times this is the first time in the appartment and we found it to be much better for us.

Room Tip: we had an appartment but make sure you ask for one with a balcony.

We thoroughly recommend this hotel. Splendid friendly service from all the staff. We took the half board option which suited us well. Plenty to choose from. We recommend the Turkish night held weekly. Just off the high street and near the beach. Not noisy at all. Spotlessly clean.
Thank you for a brilliant holiday.
The resort is busy but not in your face. No hassles from beggars or traders. very polite. Magic sunsets.
Carreta beach restaurant has a good deal. Spend 10TL per person and the loungers and brollies come free. They have waiter service on the beach, ask for Ossie.
Seaside tours are very good value. Ask for Zorro.

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Oykun, a very nice hotel, clean, well maintained, Goldie on reception very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and most choices you could ever wish for, chef there most mornings cooking omlettes, fried eggs or pancakes to order. The two pools are fresh (the smaller one at the front was refilled twice whilst we were there!) All in all a very pleasant hotel, no problems with towel and sheet changing - all very efficient. Our room was in a very good position, the front door (2nd floor, main reception block) overlooked the smaller quieter adult pool, whilst the small balcony overlooked the larger family pool. We found the room on the small side and the bathroom was small with a shower.
Downside- you have to get up in middle of night to place your towel on your chosen sunbed to ensure you have a sunbed for the following day, this was very tedious ;( Also it was very infuriating when people reserved sunbeds and then did not take them up until late on in the day or as in some cases did not even bother to sit on them all day, not clever. A ten minute walk to the beach, promenade and main restaurant strip in Calis. Pool bar no more expensive than many other bars for Efes lager 6TL 500ml bottle, however the draught Efes was pricy @ 5TL for 330ml and it was the only bar we visited where 1TL was charged for a shot of lime - bit cheeky. Only get caught out once! We didnt bother with hiring a fridge (40TL weekly) as you only really need it for water, so just buy it chilled from the little supermarket on the corner or keep the aircon on and the room is chilled down anyway! A very pleasant holiday experience, but would we return? probably not as we really like to see a bit more of the world and explore a new resort for our well earned foreign holiday. Enjoy!

Room Tip: you can email the oykun a few days before you go, requesting a certain floor, pool view, bathroom. D...

Just back from the Oykun in Fethyie where it was very very hot. Our first time in August and sadly our last at this time of the year. The hotel is unchanged, family still as welcoming. Hotel clean and offering very good value for money. Our room was smaller this time but our bathroom was much bigger and we had a bath with a shower. The balcony was small and because we were side facing and had no sun it meant that the room was cooler, a bonus in August. A safe and fridge were extras but the excellent air con is included. We had b&b which gave us a good breakfast although the orange juice is still as awful as last time. Plenty to choose from and the omelettes and Sunday pancakes were delicious. We didn't eat in the hotel at lunch time or at night as there are a huge number of excellent restaurants along the sea front or over in Fethyie and it's nice to get out at night when it's slightly cooler and you have a greater choice. This is the best 3 star hotel we've been to in Turkey and offers a great holiday for all ages at a really good price.

Room Tip: The corner rooms in the old block are much bigger and have windows on two sides which make them brig...
