We visited the hotel week beginning 30th May 2013.My fiancee and I arrived at the hotel exhausted and were very surprised, yet pleased when, arriving around 0130 in the morning on our first day,we were greeted outside the hotel at the coach by 2 staff members, who made us very welcome and went out of their way to order us in a kebab and provide us with a drink(Charlie & Chocolate).Chocolate took our bags up to our room and showed us the facilities (including safe deposit box for £20 per week). We were very pleased with the room, which was spotlessley clean.Exploring the hotel on our first day,we found all the facilities to be excellent, bar, pool, pool snacks. The food in the hotel restaurant was good too, always a lovely soup, nice main course but I would say they there was not a great choice of dishes and the available food was not so hot in temperature.
The rooms were cleaned to a high standard every day,the maids even making a special effort on one occasion by making the towels into swans and nice shapes with flowers (please leave them a tip as we did).
On out first day,we met Barbara, the Rep.Unlike any previous holidays I’ve been on,when I’ve only seen the Rep on the first day of the holiday then never again,Barbara was around the hotel every day to answer our questions. She loves the hotel,so has her heart in it.She’s a lovely lady.We bought a few of excusions through Barbara (don’t buy them anywhere else),she was very helpful, being honest about the ones to avoid.
We went for a Turkisk bath on the first day, very nice but beware the hard sell after"-you have a problem, you need a course of massages",which we fell for and were condsiderably light in the pocket!!!The massages are nice but felt a bit bullied into having them.
We took a boat trip, however, the sea was rather choppy that day and we did find it a bit tedious,as they could not bay at some of the islands.St Nicholas island, where we docked for 3 hours is very boring-you can pay 8TL (about £3 each) then you can walk up a load of steps to see some monastery ruins...(we didn’t bother). The alternative was ‘explore the island’ but if you have flip flops on it’s not really an option,so we went back to the boat,I jumped off the top deck into the sea, very exhillarating, very COLD!!! (but not for the weak stomached!!!
We booked the Jeep Safari through Barbara (Ra Safari),this was a fantastic day out (even thought I lost my flip flops in the Saklikent Gorge’s fast flowing water-amazing scenery)
The meal on the trip is lovely-I had the BBQ Trout, cooked to perfection-!It’s really great day out and please,DO the rafting! A 4Km row down the slow rapids, not deep water, but mind the rocks on your bum!!!! It’s amazing at a small cost of 30 TL (about £10)(only me and a 10 year old boy dared do it-the rest of the 20 strong party were blooming wimps!)but this was a highlight of the trip...please do it! During the safari trip, there’s an interesting look at the ancient Roman ampitheathre,a salmon falm, where you can tickle the trout fish on the bar if you want (they don’t mind!).Also,a mud bath, where they walk you into a green slimy pond and you smear yourself with mud, supposed to be good for your skin-but it smells like a sewer!!!(I don’t want to put you off the fun, which it is,but 3 days later,we got back to the UK,my fiancee was in hospital with pnuemonia,a viral/bacterial condition).(I am fine but I would suggest that the germs in that sewer mud may be the culprit). The whole day is amazing-the trip in the jeep is a bit mad, fast driving and swerving, designed to make you a bit nervous (please wear your seatbelt-you must consider your insurance clauses if an accident occurred),you will get wet-with cold water, refreshing but expext a “yikes!” experience (it’s only a bit of water!!).
Back to the hotel-pay the extra £5 each (if you’re AI) for the BBQ-unlimited,superb food and great entertainment!
We met some really nice friends and when we left, the staff Chocolate & Sammy saw us off on the coach,,a nice touch.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I hope to return one day.
A very quiet hotel, not much noise after midnight.
