“Unique and beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

Have had another two holidays at the Daffodil this year. One in June and again in September. We have been going to the Daffodil for many years and would not contemplate staying in any other hotel in the region. The situation is incredible, overlooking the bay and mountains. Although a small hotel it is very welcoming and we have found the staff very helpful and friendly. The rooms are extremely clean with fresh towels every day. The terrace at the hotel is certainly an area to relax and watch the sun rise or set over the bay. A very memorable day is to organise a day trip on the owner's yacht when a buffet lunch of your choice is served, along with afternoon tea! The management arrange for our airport transfers which means your holiday starts at the airport as there is no hassle with coaches etc. My party would find it very difficult to find any negatives about this hotel and we are always given a very warm welcome. Fethiye is a lovely town although it has no beach but there are beaches easily accessible. As senior citizens we would genuinely say that we have found paradise in Turkey. The hotel ensure that we always have the same rooms for our stays which makes it feel more "home from home" . The breakfast is more than adequate and fresh. Evening meals can also be taken in the hotel and again these are of extremely good standard. Can't wait to go back in 2014.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have excellent views

Stayed just one night but appreciated the bay view, ease to get to the heart of the town, and quiet even with courtyards, pool and multiple levels. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. Nothing to write home about with the decor, but pleasant. The dining and bar areas were inviting. I would stay here again as a single or with a group.

The desk clerk's English was good enough to be rude when he first opened his mouth. The breakfast staff was sullen. To leave to go to dinner elsewhere, we still had to run the gauntlet at the hotel. We were accosted on the terrace by the same bullying we had to face in the town! Small room so the stay was uncomfortable in all respects.

We tried to book a sea view room at time of booking but none available, so when we arrived we had a courtyard room which although fine had no net curtains and so no privacy unless the curtains were drawn ! We spoke to reception the next morning and straight away were shown 3 alternatives, we chose the sea view room with the original ottoman balcony. The view was breathtaking. The hotel rooms and layout are unusual but that is due to the age and originality of the building, the pool area was gorgeous, the flowers and the view were so peaceful. Having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the harbour was a fabulous start to the day.Sometimes we would walk in to Fethiye or when it was very hot we caught the Dolmus which ran right past the hotel. I would say the staff are discreet, rather than rude as stated by other travellers and as for how much English they speak, this is not a problem if people take the time to learn some basic Turkish before they go. I had a wonderful stay here and didn't want to leave.

Room Tip: Definately a sea view room, even though the pool view is lovely.

The Daffodil would have it nailed if it were based on location alone: it's about a 15 minute walk downtown, and there's a nice view of the bay and the city in the distance from the dining and bar areas. Unfortunately, this place is borderline unacceptable. Our room had a toilet that didn't function (perhaps the previous occupants didnt heed the warnings that you cant put toilet paper in the toilet) and a funky layout and hard mattresses. Others in our group reported a nonstop sewage smell. One couple on their honeymoon were put in a room with two twin beds. Then there was the $9 rum and coke, and a watered down bourbon reported by others. And then there's the staff: unlike most of the folks we've run into, there was barely any attempt to be friendly. The comment by an earlier visitor that "the parrot knows more English than the staff," that seemed to be the attitude, though they definitely knew English when they wanted to charge for something. The breakfast was fine; seemed to be plenty of chow despite two tour groups here. The pool is unheated. Stay here if you must, but there seem to be plenty of options in town.

I have stayed at the Daffodil on two occasions and its main attraction is its fab location. It is a 10 minute walk to the town centre & harbour where a vast array of restaurants, bars and shops can be found along with a huge selection of boat trips and other interesting activities.
The Daffodil is clean, the rooms are basic but comfortable, all have aircon. When booking it is wise to ask for a sea view as the view is spectacular.
Breakfast is simple but adequate; I can't comment on the evening menu as I have not eaten in the restaurant apart from breakfast.
The staff team need a real shake-up ; they do not smile, seem morose, appear disinterested in their guests and are unapproachable. The manager is not friendly and his attitude when approached is appalling, his team follow his style and are unhelpful and don't seem to have any understanding of the importance of customer service.
The hotel could offer so much more but the staff team do not care and only seem interested in chatting amongst themselves, talking on their mobile phones or using the computer.
Finding a staff member can be difficult and responses to queries/requests are less than adequate.
In my experience the attitude of the staff is not indicative of the ethos of the Turkish welcome.
The owner of the Daffodil should read customer reviews and act upon them, otherwise I feel the Daffodil will fail.
On a positive the Daffodil has a boat which is moored within yards of the hotel and cabin be chartered by hotel guests for a reasonable fee, the crew of two are brilliant. They are friendly, fun and extremely efficient; they provide guests with an excellent lunch and afternoon tea whilst cruising around the bay; I have been on many boat trips whilst staying in Turkey and this is one of the best.
The hotel staff team could learn a lot from the boat crew!

I stayed at villa daffodil last year and really liked it,even though the staff were a bit iffy!Just returned and the staff were even worse. Its a real shame as it is a nice little hotel, brilliant location, clean rooms, adequate breakfast.Oh but the staff!as someone posted at least the parrot talks, the staffs attitude is atrocious I don't think they know how to smile. The management really need to have a good shake up,the staff are too busy talking,on mobiles,on computers to care about customer service.Im afraid to say they give Turkish hospitality a bad name.
