We chose this beautiful setting for our wedding venue as the place is set in wonderful views however the business side of this pretty place is completely the opposite of the management and staff side. Before our big day we took our parents and some friends for a Sunday brunch. It was at this stage we begun to worry about the organisation and management of the venue. The breakfast was very slow with foods missing and even being dropped on the floor. After this experience we discussed our concerns with one of the owners who assured us this was not a typical experience......unfortunately this was a typical service. Previous to our big day myself and many friends and family went to decorate the venue, when we arrived there was no one there to meet us or even serve a drink. After I made a phone call one of the owners arrived and sat enjoying her lunch not even offering any help. Again the service was more than poor and the wait for even a bottle of water was lengthy. Being our big day I put all my worries aside and trusted that the management would be true to there word..... again another HUGE disappointment!! Many of our guests would not have known what was planned and agreed with the venue so many was still happy and would not say anything bad as it was our wedding. Most of what was agreed and PAID FOR did not occur! We meet with the florist and organisers ourselves, we bought 90% of the decorations, the band they organised were great, the lighting - very good although placed in the wrong spot, the cake was lovely ....all these things were presented by other companies or people, the venue was only really responsible for the food and beverages both or which was the biggest problem. The food was meant to be served from 18:30hrs to 20:00hrs but some of our guests did not get served till after 22:00hrs! Others received starters and some did not, the welcome drinks did not occur nor did the late evening soup. The staff they employed for the evening were very rude and clearly untrained. The way all of the staff presented there self including one of the mangers looked as though they all had just risen from bed after a very late night out – NOT what you want on your wedding day. The staff enjoyed the dancing instead of serving our guests. We did however have a lovely day due to all our beautiful family and friends but not due to the two 'managers/owners' who clearly are way in over their heads!
I was not going to review this as it very much upsets me to think about all the negative things that happened on such a very special day, but after meeting with the ‘managers’ they presented very ignorant and dismissive. So now I feel I should let others know that if your are planning something special or even a breakfast I would NEVER recommend this venue, which is such a shame as the setting is stunning, again a clear opposite to the management and service!!!!!!!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Of course we are devastated about the negativity of your comments. Also we are shocked because your review is inconsistent with the feedback we received from your guests and even from yourself at the post event review. We wonder what has happened since then to cause this outburst.

Nevertheless, we do take all feedback seriously and have carefully considered what we would do differently with this event. As concluded at our post event review meeting with you, we believe we should have been more formal and less accommodating in our arrangements. For example, we should have insisted on a proper wedding plan, defined roles and responsibilities including MC, guest list/numbers, adherence to payment terms and conditions etc.
For readers, we feel obliged to highlight some important points this review neglects to acknowledge and which may help explain our difficult circumstances and response.
For this event, Jazibe was engaged to provide set-menu catering for 170 guests and drinks only for 30-50, late arriving, non-seated guests.
However, before 6.30pm, 170 guests were seated and additional guests continued arriving until after 9pm with no-one aware of who should eat and who should be served only drinks.
Other factors contributing to issues raised in this review include the bride and groom’s insistence on taking full responsibility (and not paying) for wedding planning and organisation services (including all decorating) and the fact that a Master of Ceremonies was not assigned to implement and manage the proceedings to any schedule.
In response to the resulting problems, Jazibe tried to assist in areas outside our responsibility. Jazibe contributed approximately 16 hours effort on decorating plus the cost of additional flowers and arrangements - demanded but not paid for. On the night, Jazibe management and the entertainers stepped up in an effort to address the void in organisation by assuming MC responsibilities.
Most significantly, instead of the agreed 170 meals, a total of 238 set-menu mezes and main meals were served on the night. At 9pm, when our kitchen supplies were fully depleted, additional food was ordered (as evident in phone records) to prepare 8 al-la-carte meals, for late arriving guests. Jazibe absorbed the cost of the extra 76 meals served and unfortunately our service level was compromised.
Needless to say not everything was, as we’d have liked. Nevertheless, we did our best to graciously overcome all issues and ensure the night was beautiful and enjoyable for everyone.
In contrast to this review, feedback about your wedding confirmed that we achieved our goal of creating a beautiful event. On the night we received much congratulations and thanks from your guests, some have since ‘Liked’ Jazibe on Facebook and others have provided recommendations and new business. The professionals we partner with for our events (all present throughout your wedding) continue to work with us and recommend Jazibe to their clients. Finally, and most affirming, soon after attending your wedding, your guests booked their wedding reception at Jazibe.
Our conclusion from our post event review meeting, was that you recognised how we had done the best possible for you in the circumstances and that, overall, it was a wonderful day and everything was beautiful – the venue, the decorations, the food, the music, the cake and everyone had a lovely time. We also have very happy and grateful guests from other beautiful and successful events held at Jazibe before and after this wedding.
This is why, although we are very conscious of everything we can learn and improve on from this experience, we are confounded by the negative and derogatory nature of your review.
We hope that one day you will be able to reflect on your wedding day and appreciate everything that was good about it too.
