We stayed at the Ipek Palace Hotel in Ilgin, as we needed to be in the area for the wedding of friends. The welcome was warm and the reception staff spoke English which was a great help.
The front of house public areas of the hotel were very clean and well kept. The lift was tiny, which made getting a number of people and their luggage from one floor to another a lengthy task.
There were four of us in our party. Both rooms were clean and tidy, with full size fridges as mini bars (as this is a 'dry' hotel the contents are purely non-alcoholic). Was useful to have the fridges though, for chilling drinks we had brought with us.
The air conditioning worked well - much needed in August. One of our rooms did not have any toilet paper, which we reported to the reception immediately on arrival, however, it took two days and another reminder, before any paper was supplied.
The rooms were not serviced on a daily basis and indeed, we had to ask before our rooms were cleaned and made up fresh.
There was always hot water which was very welcome, however, the shower hoses in both rooms were leaky and needed replacing. Generally the bathrooms were a little tired - the interior of our bath was so scratched as to be matt! However, the bathrooms were clean and usable.
We tried the breakfast twice and the evening dining once - not joyous experiences. All meals are buffet style - which is not in itself a problem - but the staff were not able to keep up with the demand. Although we arrived well within the restaurant opening times, there were always a number of empty dishes and often no glasses for drinks. The food we did manage to get on to our plates was edible but uninspiring.
Because of the three day wedding celebrations we were attending, we did not have time to sample the spa facilities, so cannot comment on these.
This hotel aspires to be cosmopolitan, but in our opinion is not geared to provide the standard of service and attention to detail, that the average European traveler might expect from the hotel brochure and web information.
Overall I would say this hotel would score 3 out of 5. It was somewhat disappointing and needs to address several issues, to make staying there a real pleasure.
