If you would like to get a real taste of Konya cusine you should definitely consider making this trip from downtown Konya . A ten minutes drive the most, from downtown brings you to developing part of town where you can taste the superb cusine of Oz Konak Mutfagi, a stylishly decorated restaurant on a main road to Meram Baglari (another attraction for Konya) . The open kitchen welcomes you as you climb the stairs where the rest. is serving on the second floor . There are two sections where on the front part the tables can be arranged for larger crowd. The place is spacious and decorated stylishly.
The cusine is local and you should definitely start with the memorable okra soup (even if you do not care for okra get a spoonful of this soup made of dried okra and meat ) .
The meat dishes all taste great , we have tried tirit a meat dish on bed of bread, toasted then dampened with broth and tandır, both were excellent , the famous etli ekmek , chopped meat on thin dough ( like pizza) and to crown this feast un helvası ( flour halva), the best I had so far.
Everything we had was very delicious and worth the trip, the service was good, the premises and the kitchen looks very hygienic, and for wht we had the prices were very reasonable, a sum for what you may pay for a fastfood joint in Istanbul.
The place is an excellent choice for Konya cusine but I am not sure if they serve alcohol and public tranportation however it is located on a major road and close to a hospital so I assume the public transportation should not be a problem.
