“Overrated seafood spot”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

Walked past it in the day and the patio and decor wow-ed us. Really nice ambiance and made a reservation for 3 people. Even when we got there (late) and it was super busy, they still honoured our reservation.

The food was GOOD, but not great. Not worth the prices we were paying. Great selection of turkish wines though. Some dishes were a little too oily, and my fish was a little on the bland side. As I was my Turkish fiance, I learned you have to go and haggle for the price of your fish when you select it from the display. Turkish seafood spots don't serve side dishes like rice etc., so don't expect that. SOME places will, but they're catering to the international palette.

The service was terrible though. Yes the place was busy, but they were SO understaffed. I empathized with the servers, but some things we asked for (pepper etc) took so long to get to us, our meals got cold. Also some sides we ordered, never showed up until we reminded them a 2nd and 3rd time, so kind of hard to enjoy our meals when they were coming to the table bit by bit.

It wasn't what I expected when so many people raved about it... there are nicer, cheaper alternatives all along the same sea-facing strip near Alsancak.

“Underwhelmed-save your TL”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

Over priced for an average meal at best. 25 TL for five grilled shrimp with no sides and my husband as charged 80 TL for fish of the day. Grouper with no sides... Not even a scoop of rice. When husband questioned price of fish, no effort was made to adjust bill as he should have been told he was ordering a $40 piece of fish.

If you decide to dine here, ask price of fish of the day prior to ordering and know that th final price depends on the weight of the fish.

Skip the soup...tasteless. Better yet, skip this restaurant all together.

“A bit under my expectation...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

This a seafood restaurant with a very nice, romantic, European style indoor deco. located in a higher end area in Izmir.
Too high price for what it is (in Turkey)... yes it's fresh fish, but it is just what it should be in a seafood restaurant.. Fresh! and they only offer grilled. there's anti pasti, i thought it's also overpriced...
they are friendly, not many speak English, but need some training... they would come and take the dishes away before asking if we are done with them ( there were still food in the plates...)
we were 3 ppl, ordered 2 medium size fish, 3-4 anti pasti, one bottle of white wine and one baked octopus with cheese. for around 300ltr.
i just think i can get much better food and price in seaside in Italy, and it suppose to be cheaper in Turkey...

Overall it's good but just not as amazing as what i read from here...
and it's not by the beach, it's by the coast with a small road in between.

“Great Fresh Seafood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

We stayed at the Movenpick and the recommended this place.

When you walk in they show the fresh selection of seafood that you can order. Please keep in mind, they show you a lost of stuff you should take and nothing is price. At the end of our dinner we had a healthy bill so be aware on what you order and as for price. But you will not be disappointed with the food.

“Fine dining on the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2012

We were restaurant rookies in Turkey. Korfez was a short walk from our hotel in a row of restaurants along the beach and recommended to us by a friend. There was a lively crowd enjoying the patio when we arrived. We inquired about a table and were referred to a waiter who spoke very good English and took us under his wing. He gave us a tour of the food selection area and we chose red snapper and some starters with his help. He delivered a most wonderful dinner to our table, artfully and graciously presented. We had no knowledge of Turkish wines, and he selected a dry white for us that was very good and inexpensive. When the evening cooled, the traditional warm shawls were available. They clearly wanted us to have a good experience and we certainly did.
