The building itself is not fancy outside, it looks like an old fish factory type of thing. But inside it is very chic, airy and stylishly renovated. There are upmarket shops and trendy dining possibilities. Although the shops look expensive, you still can make bargains. In an art gallery, there was an exhibition to show beautiful photographs of old Istanbul (20's to 40's), taken by Ara Güler, a highly respected photographer from Izmir. Loved them. The cafes look nice too. There are terraces outside overlooking the sea where you can enjoy the beautiful views and sunset. If the wind is strong and cold (as it was today) you can sit inside as well. We visited a restaurant (which actually looks like a cafe) named 100%. It has a lovely interior, very trendy and stylish. The meals look good, there is a good selection in the menu and tastes are good. Except my thistle and spinach salad was a bit bland. The only downside is that it does not feel türkish at all.
