“A Functional Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

Stayed in Anemon Hotel, Izmir earlier this month. The hotel is very centrally located, has a friendly staff and adequate spread at breakfast. Its Bar on the top floor has a wonderful view. However, the hotel is located on one of the by lanes and does not live up to it's billing.

Adequate three-star hotel but not near any restaurants to speak of. You have a 15-20 min. walk to the seaside to find reasonable restaurants but they charge a 20% "service fee" for outdoor beach side tables. Beds were hard as were the pillows so sleeping not comfortable. Buffet breakfast only marginal.

It is a nice hotel but needs to be refurbished as it is too old. Its clean, staff is fine, location is fine. It is fine overall but too old.

The rooms are nice and comfortable, the breakfast buffet is very nice, and it's in proximity to the exhibiton Center in Kulturpark and the major commercial streets. It's also walking distance (5-10 mins) from the other major Hotels and Restaurants which makes it really very convenient for a business visit, but if you are here for a vacation try another Hotel with more amenities. The taxi fare from the Airport to this Hotel is 45 YTL, the walking distance from the hotel to the exhibition center is 3 mins and its 10 mins from the Sea front where most of the major Cafe's, Bars, Restaurants, and shopping streets are located. Try Recep Usta restaurant, it's the best in town and its only 10 minutes walking or 4 mins by Taxi.

Room Tip: Try getting high floors to get a nice view of the bay.

Wifi was free, but whether you had 1 person in your room or 3, there was only 1 complementary bottle of water for the room. The breakfast was fairly good. But no water for breakfast or dinner unless you bought it. No drinks were gratis. The staff in the restaurant looked miserable all the time. They never smiled or were friendly except for one young man we met. They all were running to try to keep food in the dining room which they never seemed to be able to do. They always ran out of everything. My bed was so hard and had a large lump in the middle-so much so, that I actually fell out of bed one night in the middle of my sleep. Small elevators made it difficult if you had much luggage.

We went with our tour guide"s recommendation on this hotel. Everyone was very helpful, and there was free internet. The morning breakfast was good. We did not like the location. Izmir at night is not the best place to be and it was necessary to take a taxi back to the hotel from the bazaar. We like to walk, but would not do so to this hotel. If you desire a big hotel in a big city, then this one might be for you. We much prefer smaller places. Our room overlooked the construction sight next door and was noisy from the traffice. We could not leave the windows open at night.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2010

The rooms were it's best feature. They were a nice size. The lobby was nice and had a nice little bar.
The food was awful! It was always lukewarm. They were very disorganized and never had enough of anything out and ready, be it plates or cups or food.
It was in the business section part of town, so quite far from anything interesting. We did walk down and eat at a nice place about 6 blocks away that had great food and friendly service. The English is a little hard to understand, but it all worked out. I would recommend the walk and eating in one of the restaurants left of the traffic circle. The amazing goat kebabs from the little restaurant was my favorite part of staying there.
