“loud, stinky and old”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

I spent some days in Izmir in the Hotel. Beside the Hotel is old and expensive, the area of the hotel smells, it is very very loud and the side where the hotelentrance is, is dangerous. Breakfast was ok. Parking area is available in a garage

Room Tip: take sea sided rooms

One of the good hotels in izmir. Located in central, alsancak easy transport to the airport either with metro (izban), or shuttle service. Lovely scenery -sea and city. Rich and tasty breakfast. Large rooms was ok. The only disadvantage of the hotel is the bathroom - a little bit old fashioned.

This modern high rise hotel is located on a narrow almost inaccessible street one block back from the sea. Lacking in character, this property was fine but not memorable. Everything was OK but not exceptional. Students demonstrating a few blocks away added some excitement to the visit.

Room Tip: Don't try to find this place on your own. Take a tour.

Solid rooms, with a table and chairs on private patios overlooking ocean front and city. Ask for higher room, ocean front. Large comfortable bed, choice of pillows, refrig and safe, excellent breakfast buffet with pastries fresh local specialties, olives, cheeses and more cheeses, fresh fruit and veggies, egg dishes, pancakes, pizza. Rooftop bar with great view, raki, good service but limited English. Located less than a block from outdoor bars and large waterfront park and promenade. The hotel is a long but pleasant walk along the waterfont to grand bazaar and museums, however plenty of taxis available.

I stayed this hotel for business visit to İzmir for 2 nights.

The Ege Palas hotel is close to seaside and you can sea panoramic view of İzmir Bay and is within walking distance of restaurants and cafes. WIFI connection is helpful.

I recommend this hotel for business travellers for short stay. Staff are helpful and informative.

Room Tip: Higher floors quiet and sea view

The Hotel is very central located to the pedestrian zone and plenty of restaurant/bars in Izmir centre. Some of the rooms have sea view which is very nice (rooms ending with nr. 1-4). The rooms have 4 star standard, but are very worn/tacky. So I would recommend to bring shoes to not walk barfeed on the carpet. I could not switch the A/C on as it was smelling and decided to leave the balcony door open. The washroom is clean but also very, very shabby. Breakfast is OK and the employees friendly. So if you are not keen on a freshly renovated hotel it's fine, otherwise look for a different one!

Room Tip: If you want sea-view choose room with roomnumbers ending on 1-4

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Spent three nights here. A lively city with music going all night. Fortunately they had great windows which sealed the noise out. The brought us extra pillows according to our specific needs - how nice! It was the best beds we had in Turkey. However, the rooms lacked amenities such as Kleenex, hand lotion, and information handbooks. In all these places in Turkey getting onto internet was a bit of a chore. We always seemed to need help from the main desk. Bad point: elevators were small, slow and jumpy. Had to wait a lot and there was no consistency in their operation. Something to build into if you are on a tight time schedule.
