I have stayed there a few times. I have stayed at several Hiltons in Europe and the United States and this is one of my favorites. The atmosphere is more laid back than most Hiltons (far less stuffy). That may be why it is so appealing. Would not think of staying anywhere else in Izmir.

The restaurants are great and the breakfast is outstanding. The view from the upper floor is awesome since you can watch the ships come into port.

Service is great, especially laundry and housekeeping services, and staff is very friendly.

The Hilton Izmir is the tallest building in Izmir and therefore has pretty great views. my view was of Mt Pagos but the harbour view the breakfast buffet had was equally nice. Great staff and great location. the only negative was that the room was pretty dated though i was there in June05 so hopefully some work has been done.

Go to Ephesus, i ended up in Izmir just to see it and it was completely worth it. the tour arranged on the premesis was great, it was myself and another couple so it was as personal as they come!

The rooms are large and have a good view. The furnishing is really tired, lighting bad, poor layout, not even a safe... What is needed is a good renovation. As is the rooms feel like an old 3 star hotel room in any major city .
Too bad about the rooms because the location is good, staff try hard, nice gym facilties and good breakfast spread.

We stayed at the Hilton Izmir for just 1 night...had a late arrival after a very long travel day and wanted "western" comfort before heading off through the country the following day. This is listed as a 4 or 5 star hotel on some websites/travel books. I think its more like a typical 3 star hilton property, with the exception of the Bulgari boutique in the lobby. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the room was clean. Decor was a bit dated, and not to our liking, but that's no matter. What I remember most about the hotel is how busy it was, lots of coming and going and people around, and the metal detector that you sometimes had to walk through coming in through the front door. Overall, its a fine western style hotel, but nothing special, and thus way overpriced. I'd compare this to a more 'best western' type property (again, with the exception of the luxury boutique and cigar shop in the ground floor).
