“My stay in Altin Yunus hotel Cesme”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

I have just returned after a week at this Hotel and I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much to ask. I had 5 days therapies and again, the therapists were very friendly but they can't speak English. The food is very good and varied.

Our experience at this resort "Altin Yunus" was a total disappointment.
We stayed there in September 2011, spent ~5 days and let me write my observations+experiences. They were not so good.

Staff was terrible, basically they didn't care at all.
Condition of the room that they gave us was so so so bad!!!!
We requested to change our room, since It was not possible to stay there!

Yes, they were kind enough to change our room.
They were so kind and very thoughtful that we waited for 5 hours!!!!

Instead of going to beach, unfortunately we spent all afternoon waiting in the lobby.
After all, the room they gave was okay. But if a hotel has 5 stars, then your expectations are getting higher. That's why it should be renamed as Tin Dolphin, quality was so low.
In the restaurant there were several cats, patrolling in the area, sometimes chasing each other, sometimes they were looking into your eyes asking for food. Having cats in the restaurant was really so annoying. On the other hand what if I am allergic to cats??
Since we surprised with these terrible conditions, we asked about the hotel to taxi drivers. First they didn't want to talk, they were silent. But when they understood that we are very upset about the situation, they started to talk confidently. What they were telling us the hotel's condition especially in the last 5 years went down. Previously it was great but not anymore.

Basically don't bother yourself and find a better hotel. Otherwise you will spend some time to write comments on tripadvisor to urge people

This hotel is badly in need of updating in every area!!! staff were not interested in the guests, tables often left dirty at all meal times throughout the day, we had to approach them for drinks, never any staff walking around the pool bar or beach bar for drinks orders. Beach bar service and the open buffet for lunch was terrible, at one point we had to collect our own food from the kitchen staff when ordering from the menu because there were NO staff there to do it! Needs a lick of paint all over!!! indoor swimming pool was dirty and mouldy! Staff not very friendly-surprising for Turkey!!! after checking hotel bill-items had been added which were not ours-signature was not ours which was sorted out in the end after a lot of waiting around in the reception until someone decided to do something about it.

we had our wedding at this hotel which turned out ok in the end, but after much nagging from my brother-in-law (he is Turkish) to do the minimum (i.e. table clothes on the bare tables- as it stated in the contract signed by both the hotel and ourselves) location is lovely couldn’t have asked for more, beach was clean and water was lovely! Internet connection in our room.

Very expensive-expected a lot more!!!! would not go back and would not recommend this hotel!!

Stayed at Altin Yunus on October 2011. Altin Yunus is one of the oldest hotels in Cesme. It is located on a beautiful coast.

Review:
+ Very beautiful beach with almost white sand and crystal clear water.
+ Very friendly staff.
- No wireless internet connection in the rooms
+ Rooms were recently renewed and they looked good and spacious.
+ Lots of open places to hang out in the hotel like cafes, bars, etc.
- Food is terrible (I rated the hotel 4 stars. If it weren't for the beach, I`d give it 2 stars, primarily because of the quality of the food).
+ The beach is on a separate bay from the Marina. That's good, because you don't have any boats around
- Towels are supplied in the beach but they are old
- The swimming pool tasted like seawater

Also, there is an all inclusive concept but it only applies to some of the hotel guests. As an all inclusive guest, you are constantly required to show your room key card whenever you want to get food or drinks. This could be easily solved by wristbands - you give them to all inclusive guests and don't need to bother them anymore. Other hotels have solved it this way.

All in all, good facility with excellent beach and terrible food :)

The hotel was made in 1974 and unfortunately some of the original features remains like old metal doors in the corridors and on the balcony. The rest of the hotel has been updated, the check in area, restaurant and rooms to some extent are nice although do need improving.

In the bathroom the mirror edges didn't have a mirror backing, the sink top was glass so you could see unpleasant metal and between some floor tiles there was a brown dirty colour. The bedroom was nice to look at first glance but the TV was old, drawers was hanging off the wall and some of the lights didn't work. On top of this the room was dirty and sheets and towels only got changed if you asked. We put our towels on floor to get changed and when arrived back they had been removed but not replaced along with the bathmat which we never got back. The whole room was dusty (see picture) and we was able to write please clean in turkish in it. Although we asked the maid to clean room he didn't dust until we showed him the dust on TV and told him that we had allergies. Also for 2 days there was a bad smell of garbage in the room which wasn't from us as room didn't even have a bin. We could only point it out to the air con unit so complained and they sent someone to investigate and they sprayed lots of air fresher so when we came back to room we couldn't breath and had to open the window.

The food was nice but the restaurant inside wasn't that big and on our last day it was very cold and the wind was strong and we had to eat outside with the table cloths blowing around us. During the day outside is nice but there are lots of cats about, one morning after putting my breakfast on the table then getting up to get some water, I returned to find food missing from my plate and the cats eating it under the table. Also they charge you for drinks which are expensive, one small bottle of water was 4.50 TL (a bigger bottle in the supermarket up road only cost 0.50). sometimes they didn't charge us on certain days but charged the table next to us when they ordered there drinks. I don't know what system they had.

As some people have said the hotel is big and our room was one of the end rooms and it took us 5-10 minutes every time we had to go back to it (see picture, taken half way down corridor).

On the plus side the marina is nice and the beach clean.

There is much made of the fact this hotel was opened in the 70's and sadly the service experience offered is just as dated.
Having arrived quite late on the first night of our stay; staff were more interested in explaining we not able to eat on the inclusive element of our package rather than offer food service. This approach featured often during the following week as staff had to be hailed like passing taxi's to get any table service. As a consequence we were left feeling that we had booked the cheap seats and not the hassle free 5 star environment promised on the website and via the travel agent.
We had to move after the first night as the initial room allocated was directly above the nightclub and the din was deaf making. Having said that, the rooms whilst basic were very clean and well serviced during our stay.
The buffet restaurant had copious amounts of food available that changed day to day so that there was no posibility of becoming bored, however there was no allocated seating or indeed the offer of being shown to a table - so a free for all ensued.....
The private beach was enjoyable and yet again the non existant beach bar service let it down.
Overall the hotel is tired and dated with staff more interested in speaking with each other than offering service. The management of this property need their rears kicked.

Room Tip: Ensure a room away from the nite club to avoid sleepless nights
