“Not even close to Sheraton standards”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

Visited Laguna Beach Restaurant for light lunch during my trip to Turkey in June 2012. Did not stay at the hotel and therefore could not comment the quality of accommodation. But it seems to be old establishment and in need of refurbishing. It was early in June and still off-season, only very few guests wandered around in hotel and their beach bar.

As member of Starwood client program I’m expecting that establishments bearing Sheraton brand will follow certain quality standards. And this was actually the main reason for selecting Sheraton for my lunch. Unfortunately everything went wrong there. Staff did not speak English and clearly missed basic training. Therefore no explanations for menu and of course only half what we ordered finally arrived to our table. Food quality not impressive at all and do not match the prices. Service was in general very slow despite the fact that we were the only guests. Staff gathered to bar and simply ignored us, maybe it was again because their lack of English.

Toilets near Laguna bar were bit smelly, better use the ones inside hotel.

Beach and sea are beautiful. But the rest are terrible. Hotel rooms are very old. Employees are totally unprofessional. No one from hotel is customer oriented. Moreover, their real job is to create stupid problems to customer. I can not believe that this hotel is a member of Sheraton Group and 5 star hotel! It can take at most 3 stars... Foods are just food, less than average in taste. All extras are too much expensive compared to any other luxurious hotels or restaurants. As a result do not select this hotel, if you are really interested in it's beach, use it as external customer but do not stay here!!!

i only used sheraton hotel's beach and i think it's not worth to pay 60tl per day just to use swimming pool, having towel and using beach. you should be careful when you having sunbath, because it's windy all the time, and you suddenly get burned even you didnt notice.

This hotel is very nice if you want a quiet and comfortable place with a lot of cool Aegean breeze in the warmest months. It is somewhat pricey but not so expensive in international standards. The beach is great, the half pension option is good and the service is almost great.

The helicopter landing of a VIP customer a couple of times was a bit annoying, the service level had hick-ups but in general staff was trying to show their best efforts.

I would recommend this resort to everyone who is considering a holiday in Cesme area. You have to go out to town, Cesme or Alacati, if you are looking for entertainment though.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms have sea view, but they have few non smoking rooms.

Cesme as location is wonderful for relaxing time - great sea, good proximity from touristic attractions and famous Izmir shopping, as expected great Turkish food.

Hotel occupies impressive grounds, has a wide range of services to offer. Be prepared, Turkish law states 3meters (?) between water and shoreline is a public path - hotel beach is no exception! So on weekend we did have a number of locals from the public beach next to Sheraton cruising the sand path and checking out the sun bathing bikinis.

I stayed in the hotel during high tourist season and was let down by incapability to foresee demand requirements to supply staff:
- checkout at noon - had to wait in line 40minutes as all those leaving on sunday back to istanbul were checking out the same time. Express checkout bill under the door like Intercontinental or Hilton do would have worked out just fine;
- we were a group of 6 people on the beach, pushing the service button on the breach umbrellas and had to wait close to an hour for someone to come over to take drinks order;
- we have asked to get us on guest list and book a table in one of the local lounge clubs, where outsiders are not allowed. After 30 minutes of waiting for someone to update us, we have come to the recieption to discover concierge had gone home and left us a message no one at the club was picking up the phone! Seriously, being a local 5-star hotel they do not have manager's mobile number?!
- i had to print out my boarding pass in the business centre. Beware, you have to pay for 2hours of internet, even being Sheraton member, for 5 minutes to login! Screens were all in Turkish, though using deductive method was ok to figure out how to print. But the guy who checked my Internet coupon already left by then, leaving me with pending print job and no paper! it took me 15minutes to find someone else to locate paper in a different room, etc.
If all this laidback attitude creates no irritation for you, then this is a great place to stay!

We have enjoyed Sheraton Resort because of its ambiance, great selection of foods, friendly staff and amenities. The swimming pool is close by to the small restaurant for a quick lunch, and the beach is the best in Cesme. While not everything is free as in most resorts, the ambiance and the service was great and being able to drink reasonably was a plus. While most of the other all inclusive resorts let one drink free alcoholic beverages free all day, I don't see it as being the part of a quality vacation. The breakfast, the in house bread bakery oven, and variety of selections both for breakfast and dinner were very high quality. But the highlight of our stay was to enjoy the live jazz band and the lead singer was fabulous. We would like to go back again next summer.

Room Tip: We had early reservation to get a better rate in a suite. The prices go up in June.

Never imagined how such a good location with a high quality facility, can be operated that bad.
At least three times a day, i am getting shocked with what we experienced with hotel crew.
It is not only me , what we observed, other guests are in same situation.
Several cases..
i. We arrived hotel at 17:00 to check in with our baby after a long travel but we could do it after 13:00 since our vacation reservation started at 13:00, we had to wait around 1 hour to have our room cleaned.
ii. On Saturday, vale refusing to get car of a new visitor stating park is full. And parking guy states it is not his problem. And guest was asking a solution since lady was trying to check in.
ii. Today i was at thermal bath and due to dirtness a guest complained to a service manager and manager called cleaner and asked to guest that he should complain to cleaner again :)) and not to her
iii. Two days ago at lunch after 50 minutes of waiting when i asked about meals, Chef explained me the logic behind que with a rude attitude. When asked him to have at least soup for our baby , he doesn't even listen.
iv. Average waiting time for your order is min. 60 minutes.
v. It is not good to have a invoice even you drink a water at a higher price.. cheap commercial game.
