“Small, delightful, bathroom limitations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2012

Charming inn with 4-5 rooms - wonderful staff and family that runs it. Detailed and fabulous breakfast. One night, with friends, we had an excellent meal at the inn, made by the (biochemist) lady of the house. Only concern, the bathrooms are marginal by modern Turkish standards, and we often lacked hot water. But what an excellent location (a block from Imam Cagdas restaurant).

Room Tip: All rooms are nice

I had a tremendously rich experience in Gaziantep and my accommodation here was one of the most rewarding parts of the experience. Gaziantep is a remarkable city and has put a great deal into promoting tourism. There is so much tradition in the cuisine and the architecture, both of which you will experience at Asude Konak. Not only is it like stepping back in time, the proprietors have several generations of roots in Gaziantep and will enrich your experience with their knowledge of the culture. You MUST eat here to experience the unique gastronomy of Gaziantep, which you will enjoy in the gorgeous courtyard.

Room Tip: The upstairs rooms are the most spacious and historic. There is also a beautiful library upstairs.

We spent three nights in this beautifully renovated and decorated Ottoman house, elegantly furnished with a refined taste. Each room has a unique decoration with the antique pieces which are family belongings of the owners.

The hotel is centrally located and a few minutes walk away from castle, old bazaar and restaurants. The most important thing is the "spirit" added by the family that runs this hotel ,makes this place more than a boutique hotel. A "feel at home" feeling welcomed us from the first step and every moment we spent in the hotel was a unique experience showing us what geniune hospitality really means.

Another thing impossible to pass over without mentioning is "cuisine". If you want to taste real local Turkish cousine, here is the right place. Breakfast was gorgeous... Local olive oil and "zahter" (a kind of oregano), cheese, jams home-made with organic fruits, hot pitta bread... And the food absolutely beyond words... Real local Gaziantep cuisine impossible to find in restaurants...
We spent three most memorable days in this hotel and I cordially recommend here as a "home" in Gaziantep.

This hotel is located very near the center of the old city. Around hotel is web of very narrow alleys,so even local taxi driver can't find and approach the hotel easily.
But after finding , a few minutes walk to the center of the city was very convenient for me.
The appearance of the hotel is very old and traditional, equipments are behind the times, but cute.A small garden in the hotel is also cute. I've never known such an impressive hotel .
Breakfast is simple and frugal, but local ingredients attracted my interests.
In south-east Turkey people rarely speak English, different from Istanbul, but some of hotel staffs speak English.Staffs served us with warm hospitality ,I feel as if we were invited to local family's home.
But if you like modern hotels with developed equipments, this hotel should not be your choice.

Bad location, room had no security whatsoever or privacy!!(no lockable door or window which was a wooden shutter). Eating area right by bedroom window.Just awful! Had very small meal with family + wine bill next day 85 lira. We were shocked! Had to eat here because of the lack of security. Forget sleep very noisey street.Meal however was small but very nice and family friendly!

I stayed 3 nights in Asude Konak and I had a lovely time.
The restoration has been carried out in the perfect way to balance design, functionality and respect for traditions. The guesthouse is just a stone's throw away from everything, including the castle and the city bazar.
Rooms at ground floor are a bit dim and they would need some more light.
But what really makes Asude valuable and worthy the visit is the perfect familiar atmosphere that Jade and her family and friends are able to create around the table every night .
