“By far the best Turkish food in Turkey.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

This was a rare find. We were practically finger pointed to this place by local shopkeepers on the same street when we were shopping in Urgup after visiting the Open Museum and Valley of the Feary Chimneys. This is a very local place as almost everyone on the street was recommending us to go there and a a lot of Turkish people eating here. Very strip down basic home styled cooking. We had Turkish stewed chicken, beef, salad, Turkish styled Ravioli, lentil soup, bread and jasmine rice! Only two of us was eating and we managed to finish everything that we ordered. I guess that says a lot! The food was very simple and just divine. Service was impeccable. The owner was taking orders, cooking and serving at the same time! Thumbs up Zeytin! By far the best food after 1 week of being in Turkey.

“Fresh, healthy and delicious - don't miss this one!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2012 via mobile

We didn't read the reviews until after eating here for three nights in a row. Agree with everything said. Best food experience in a month of travelling in Europe and Turkey (on a flash-packer budget). Food is fresh, healthy, yummy. You won't find fancy contemporary decor,  alcohol, or a menu here - just the tasty dishes of the day served by an angel. Wish we could pack Zeytin up in a bag and take it with us on the rest of our trip.

“Experience a real local restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2012

Zeytine is a small restaurant on the high street of Ürgüp run by a family of parents and two daughters. One of the daughters who could speak English, Fatima, explained that they don't have a menu and that each day has different home-cooked dishes. On her recommendation we had Yaprak Sarmasi, vine leaves stuffed with rice – a large portion of freshly steamed and stuffed vine leaves which made for a great starter. The beef dish of Et Kavurma was delicious – cubed pieces of beef cooked in sumak and cumin, served fairly dry. The Tavuk Kizartma was a chicken dish of shallow fried meat in a light tomato sauce. Both dishes were served with rice and smiles.

This is one the best ways to try home cooked food and experience true Urgup hospitality.
