“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

Its very nice hotel. Has the feel of staying in natural caves. Staff is very nice. Rooms are clean & well arranged.
Breakfast was also quite good. On tour rooms are just a place to get good sleep & thats what you exactly get over here. With such pleasant staff, it only adds to your comfort

This was an awesome place to stay - very rustic, but super duper service and a really friendly environment! the only problem i had the whole time was i hit my head on the very low doors - but it is a cave hotel so its my own fault! The rooms were good and clean, the breakfasts delicious, the view fantastic, and location awesome! Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Room Tip: 1st floor room the best - in the middle - so close to ground and bar/breakfast area on top floor

My husband and I just stayed at Dedeli and had a lovely time. Our room was beautiful and the bathroom was huge. Breakfast was the best we have seen yet in Turkey: dried fruits, yogurt, fresh fruit, delicious WARM dishes (first time in 3 wks of travel) like egg/potato scramble, pastries, and much more. Such a treat. It is an easy walk to the main square and the owner is VERY helpful! We had a wonderful tour through them as well. Great experience!

Our travel agent in Istanbul booked us a room at the Dedeli Konak for our 2 night stay in Urgup, Cappadocia. The manager is very amicable and attentive to guest needs. He overheard that we were on our honeymoon (a 6 month trip around the world) and upgraded us to a suite with jacuzzi tub and sitting area. The furniture is a bit tacky, but if you have a good sense of humor you will enjoy your stay. Excellent breakfast too!

It is a very quaint hotel. The rooms are new and the staff goes out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The internet was spotty but i was staying in a cave after all. The rooms are carved into the side of the mountain, which adds to the experience. It doesn't compare to a Business hotel, but that really wasn't the point if the experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The people who run the hotel also coordinate tours, so there were plenty of great suggestions to choose from in terms of great things to explore.

The room was fantastic, large, clean. The view was beautiful. Situated right by the city centre. Service was friendly and went above and beyond. Easy access to tours, transportation, shopping and restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel.

We had booked at the Dedeli Guest House, but the taxi driver delivered us to the cave hotel instead. Faruk insisted "Same owner, we can do better rooms, same price". He said that the guest house was more for backpackers, while we were an older couple travelling with our adult daughter and her partner. We were a little suspicious, and decided to go to the place we had booked, where we met the owner who confirmed what Faruk had offered - so we accepted, and were glad we did. The rooms were interesting, carved into the rock of a hillside. On our first evening, Faruk invited us to share tea with him and a couple of Australian girls to view the sunset from the hill at the top of the hotel - accessed through a door above the kitchen. That was stunning, and set the mood for the balance of our stay. Faruk was always friendly and accommodating. The rooms were perfectly adequate, though understandably a bit on the small side, and one morning we found that hot water depended on him lighting the fire to heat it before we had a shower! Breakfasts were a traditional Turkish spread, including hard boiled eggs, cured meats, bread, sweet and savory pastries, and amazing fresh and dried fruit - though given the breathtaking view from the breakfast room, we really didn't notice the food all that much! Overall, we really enjoyed our three nights at the Dedeli Konak.

Room Tip: Rooms are on about 5 levels. It depends on whether you prefer to climb lots of stairs to breakfast...
