“Best of the Cave Hotels”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2008

The Museum Hotel is a wonderful, charming hotel. The cave rooms are very tastefully done but also luxurious.

The restaurant was phenomenal!! We ate at several restaurants in the area, and the Museum's restaurant was by far the best one. The head waiter, a man named Softic, will accommodate your every need. I have never received such good service in my life. He is truly a gem.

It certainly looks exactly like the pictures and doesn't overpromise on beauty. We had the Delriki Deluxe Room (sp?) and it looked as pretty as its picture, in fact the entire hotel did.

The room was huge and well appointed and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was large and well appointed as well. There were a few glitches. The room was dark and damp and smelled like a basement. The safe didn't work well and the door to the room didn't open easily. While I would stay here again, I would not stay in this room. Friends stayed in other rooms (Lazy Hunter, for example) and were very happy.

Food preparation was mixed. My husband had a good meal and I had to send mine back. However, service was EXCELLENT. The breakfasts were superb.

The hotel is well located and I can certainly recommend it.

  • Liked — Location, unusual decor
  • Disliked — dampness, darkness, internet didn't work in room as advertised

This was a wonderful hotel in all respects. The rooms were large & spacious and certainly unique. The king size bed was very comfortable.

We arrived after dark on a rainy night, which made the experience even more surreal. It wasn't until the next morning that we were able to really see and appreciate the beauty of the grounds, buildings & surroundings.

The dining room & bar were open late which we appreciated after our late arrival. We found the service there excellent and the food extremely well done. We ate there three nights and were never dissapointed.

The staff was very pleasant, efficient and helpful.

The touch of doubling as a "Museum" added to the uniqueness of the facility.

Overall, a great experience that my wife & I will never forget.

  • Liked — UNique Experience, not just a room
  • Disliked — Could use brighter lighting "in the cave"

Nice location to visit the area. The front desk personnel are excellent. The decorations attractive and cave that we had was comfortable. In our "cave" there were two windows and with both open the area was uncomfortably warm. It must be extremely warm in summer months since there is no AC.
The real problem is the dining room, whether for breakfast or dinner; the staff appeared to be untrained and not directed, resulting in confusion and extremely poor service. The food was only average and when brought back to our table after we walked out . it had been reheated and not eatable. The staff meant well but just could not get it together.
Considering the abundant number of restaurants in the area I would pass on this one.

This was a wonderful cave hotel, one of the most remarkable and unique places that we have ever stayed in. The location was awesome, we could easily walk among the cave dwellings in Uchisar. There were local vendors who were attentive, but not too pushy, who were very friendly, and it was very convenient for getting souvenirs. The accommodations were very nice, great views from our room, a very nice bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they had all lined up to greet us on our arrival, a nice welcome. The restaurant was excellent, in service and food, with a great view. The staff arranged great personal tours for us; the guides were great, very friendly, attentive and informative. The only negative was the relative lack of any local options for dining; if you have no car, then the hotel is basically your best option for meals. Overall, it was quite an experience to stay in a cave, with the amenities of a very nice hotel. We would not hesitate to stay there again and recommend it strongly as a great way to enhance the experience of visiting this unique and beautiful region of Turkey.

  • Liked — The location, quite remote, quiet, great scenery.
  • Disliked — Lack of local options for dinning.
