One thing in life is certain, change. With regards to trskonaklas, going past some old reviews the change was much welcomed.
So how to describe our experience and the new staff at Takonaklar, the little hotel nestled in cappadocia? well, It's like a warm big hug from your mum or a hot chocolate on a winters day. The welcome and service was so warm, so genuine and so happy it was infectious.
We arrive and are treated by name by the lovely Valery (that hasn't happend in a while in my travels) . There is a gentle softness about each word she mutters as she take us to the room and explains the ins and outs. There is no rush and a new pace is much welcomed after our days in Istanbul . for the reminder of the stay, she is there to assist, with everything for a taxi to town, to the best place to eat, or a late checkout.
Our Room 109 was lovely with a private terrace plenty light and space enough for 3 guests. The bathroom was beautiful. It is all a little low. Being almost 6ft, you do have to bend a little. the hotel is original with stellar views, jazz playing in the garden, little lovely local touches everywhere. There was no air con just a fan, but we didn't need it during our stay.
Dinner is made fresh and needs to be preordered the day before , so we are given some recommendations for near by hot spots. Too tiered to make the 2 minute walk, we plonk ourselves in front of the valley with a bottle of wine. It is at this moment we meet the true delight of the hotel Ilyas . Zooming around guests, he is the embodiment of sunshine in a human. Smiling, helpful, taking photos from all the right angles, topping up drinks, fetching blankets and arranging the tables to look just right almost all unprompted. Ever details is thought of , with a beaming smile, my mum and i gush: Wow This is service, we never want leave.
We mentioned we are peckish but have no energy to make the walk, and enquier about snacks in 10 minutes a feast arrives from nowhere. Fresh cheese, cucumbers, olives tomatoes, amazing stuffed peppers and fried cauliflower with a delicious dipping sauce (we later discover only 13 euro was charged for our perfect banquet) . Our glass is never empty and Ilya never too far.
I won't bore you with the rest of the stay, as each day seemed a delight . We did see some rooms in the hotel that looked a little dark . So Do ask for a room that gets the beautiful sun. Do wake up early to see the balloons. Do have the wine overlooking the valley and watch the sunset and what ever you do Don't look at some of the old reviews. Change is here at Taskonaklar book it!
