“Perfect base for Cappadocia Visit, Great Food, Great Views Above the City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2011

My wife and I and two other adult family members stayed at the Sultan Cave Suites for four days as part of a two week tour of Turkey. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and, although they were dark as you'd expect for cave rooms, each had an outdoor patio with seating and beautiful views over Goreme where we could watch the hot air balloons float by each morning. We split our stay between two rooms. Room 307, a Junior Suite cave room, had a queen bed in the main room and two twins in a separate windowless room that would be good for kids although some may find it claustrophobic. Room 304 was a suite cave room with a separate bedroom and a large front room which was perfect for sharing conversation and a bottle of local wine in the evening with the rest our party.

Staying in a cave room is quite a treat in Cappadocia, and Sultan's give us that experience while still giving us upscale hotel amenities. If you take my advice and stay in one of the cave rooms, just remember, its still a cave so it can feel a bit musty and you may have to go outside the room to use the hotel's wi-fi.

The breakfast was the best of the hotel breakfasts of our two week trip with the broadest selection of items that included 3-4 types of olives, multiple breads and cheeses, figs, dates, and a wide range of other dried fruits that were a nice complement to the fresh yogurt. And omelets on request. We had dinner one of our nights at the Seten, the hotel restaurant, and found it on par with the best of the restaurants on our trip; great food, excellent service, and intimate separate dining rooms with beautiful views. One tip - have an earlier dinner before the crowds and head for the furthest room from the restaurant entrance, a corner room with 3 tables and a commanding view of Goreme.

Service was excellent. The staff responded quickly to any request and went out of their way to avoid any inconvenience to us. There is a nice lobby area where Mehmet the owner and his staff are eager to help with questions or suggestions on things to do or see. The Sultan is associated with Turkish Heritage Travel which has its office at the Kelebek Suites next door. Turkish Heritage planned our Turkish vacation and we took a number of their day tours in Cappadocia, all of which were wonderful and highly recommended. The lobby also has a computer available to guests.

The Sultan is located above the Goreme city center but its only a short walk to town. We found it quiet in the evenings being away from the bustle of Goreme which was wasn't that crowded in mid-May but I'm told is much busier during the peak season.

There may be other nice cave suite hotels in Goreme, but after staying at Sultan Cave Suites, I can't imagine looking.

We had one of the suites and this meant a cave bedroom and a lounge room. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean. The terrace outside the room overlooked the town and the valley. Superb view. The restaurant served delicious Turlish cuisine and my coeliac diet was never a problem. They arranged a tour of the underground city and this was amazing.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms that are upstairs. Less noisy.

This hotel was recommended by our travel agent and I was not disappointed. Its great value for money and superbly made hotel in middleof the caves. Its 2 minutes walk down to the Goreme town centre which has several cafes and shops. The restaurant in the hotel was beautiful with a view of the town and valley from one of the inner rooms. Tasteful decor and decent food. The room was a fair walk from the reception and hence I would recommend guests with walking problems to be prepared in advance.

We stayed at the Sultan Cave Hotel for 9 days, we wanted to experience Cappadocia and also relax and boy we got both 100%. The Hotel has to be the best in Goreme, Mehmet and his staff go to great lengths to make your stay as comfortable and complete as possible, with little fuss and great warmth. Wonderful people. Nothing was too much trouble, and so we organised all of our tours and trips through the hotel - so easy. Our final total after eating most evenings in the fabulous restaurant (again lovely staff) was unbelievably reasonable. Great food, great wine, perfect location and fabulous people. I can't recommend the hotel more highly - perfect place, don't miss it!

We arrived with only one night booked after an overnight bus trip...tired and needing a shower. The beautiful smiling manager managed to accomodate us with 3 different rooms and all were just lovely and clean, One very small, but very comfortable. All with ensuites and all different prices.
The staff are just amazing at this hotel and should be very proud of their service and friendliness. The breakfasts are wonderful, and all in all just an amazing place to stay. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to enjoy Turkey. These lovely people made our stay so enjoyable, and I would love to welcome all of the staff into our home in Australia, that is how very welcome we were made. The tours we arranged were amazing, and the ballooning in such a special place an experience not to be missed..... Thank You, Thank you, Thank you. Claire & Merv from Australia

A big thank you to Mehmet, Mustafa, and the rest of the staff at Sultan Cave Suites for a fantastic stay in Cappadocia. The hotel was wonderfully situated atop the hill overlooking Goreme, with a view over the magical landscape - which was especially nice in the morning while enjoying the delicious and generous breakfast (and dinner at the hotel's restaurant was great!). Our room was great - spacious, comfortable and quiet. Mehmet and Mustafa were very helpful in making sure we made the most out of our trip and were always around the hotel to chat with us (we still aren't sure when they sleep!). From a hot air balloon ride at sunrise, to a horseback ride through the beautiful valleys, to guided tours of Cappadocia, to an afternoon at the hamam, they are very attentive and offered to arrange incredible excursions/activities for us. They also scheduled our airport transfers and helped with transportation to neighboring towns. We definitely recommend that anyone go discover this region of Turkey and stay at the Sultan Cave Suites. Goreme is centrally located and the perfect 'homebase' to explore Cappadocia.

We stayed at the Sultan cave Suites and had a fabulous time. The hotel is quite unique, situated in between the fairy chimneys of Goreme. The cave rooms are great fun, the breakfasts wonderful, and the restaurant very swish. The location is perfect, near to the towns restaurants, and surronded by the most incredible countryside we have ever hiked in. The staff made us feel so welcome, and were very helpful.
They helped us book a hot air balloon ride, which was a once in a life time experience.

Room Tip: Ask nicely!
