“A 'must try' in Goreme”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

If you're staying in Goreme, I urge you to checkout up OCAK restaurant. This quiet, unassuming place has beautiful views of the fairy chimneys and best of all, delicious home-cooked traditional Turkish food.
A family business, the restaurant provides a great atmosphere and a good quality meal. The owners are extremely welcoming and will try their best to meet your needs / requests.
Give it a go!

“Overrated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

Too highly rated in TripAdvisor.
The food is very average for the price that I paid.
Ordered the famed testi lamb kebap and grilled chicken. I would just like to say I had better versions of lamb kebap in various lokantasi in Turkey for half the price, so I was very disappointed because we came here with high hopes based on the rave reviews.

Quiet and off the beaten path! Nice deck with firepit; great food and prices! I had chicken, son had eggplant. View and location are a plus!

“Very good restaurants”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

Tasty standard Turkish cuisine. A fairly short menu with no surprises. Reasonable prices. We liked it and went there two evenings in a row, also because it was quite close to our hotel. A minor complaint: the grilled sausages we ordered were excellent but took much longer to cook than the rest of the food, which was brought to the table earlier. So, two of us finished their dinner before the other two had started it

“Amazing home cooked food, wonderful view, great staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

I highly recommend this restaurant!!! I ate for three evenings there. I had excellent home cooked food with wonderful views of the chimney. The food was excellent, simple, genuine and easy digestible like the one cooked by your mother or granny. It was not too elaborate like in many touristic restaurants. You can really taste the good quality of the ingredients...beef, aubergines, grape leaves filled with rice, soup....they were really really good!
I saw the sun set and the owner lit the fire, while the waitresses brought lit hurricane lamps to each table. The staff was great and it was like to be part of the family. A truly wonderful experience!!!
