After reading previous reviews, I'll go out on a limb here and admit I found the Whirling Dervishes at Kapadokya absolutely captivating. This religious ceremony (it is not a show or a dance that is put on for tourists) was something I really wanted to see in Turkey and I came away from it feeling peaceful, mesmerised and with a great sense of admiration for the faith of others different to me. My husband did not have the same reaction as me, but he did appreciate the Dervishes dedication and ability to spin! At least he did not fall asleep as reported in some reviews. I loved the music and the dark, cave setting. Definitely go and see the Dervishes but go with an open mind. You may find it long and boring and worthy of an hour's doze as others reportedly have, but then again, you might come away feeling captivated and go 'wow' like me.
