Zelve was quiet, uncrowded and well put together as an outdoor museum. definitely worth a visit to get a better understanding of this amazing area.

“Better than Goreme”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

Much better than the more famous Goreme museum. The churches don't have the beautiful frescoes of Goreme, but we had the park more or less to ourselves. The other visitors kept to themselves in different parts of the huge park, and unlike Goreme didn't take away from our visit. It was natural beauty from start to finish.

“Long way to Zelve”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

First things first. Zelve is definitely worth a visit. I came in Zelva from Goreme on foot, and have not regretted efforts. Interesting even for Cappadocia place (although not all are accessible), sometimes not much people, good views.
But that's not all. There is a good route for the whole day, if 1) you are based in Goreme, 2) you are in good physical shape, 3) the weather is warm and dry. From early morning go in Goreme open air museum direction (there is no sense to visit there, especially for the money being asked for entrance), come a little way up, closely observing the left side of the road. After a few minutes you will see the site and sign informs you that here begins canyon length of 2.7 km, going out to the Rose Valley. Yes, you're on the spot! Once again, check your physical condition, equipment (water, gloves and good sturdy shoes will useful), and if all the matches - go. Canyon itself is not too complicated, just in a few places have to climb over large boulders, and a couple of times to go down with wooden ladders. Soon you will reach planned - in the Rose Valley, which stretches almost to Cavusin. Leisurely and looking at the mountains (in some of the sights you can climb well - tested), walk through the valley, and from Cavusin will remain just 4 km to Zelve (not to confuse the destination - at Zelve open air Museum the road ends, will not continue). After a walk your impressions will stay with you for a long time.
