“Intro to the area”

A 15 minute walk from Goreme uphill to the open air museum. We went on our first day in the town. Plenty of churches to view and gave us a taste of the rock formations,Busy in the summer so evening seemed a good time to be there

“Nice to see”

Enjoyed looking at the churches and a pleasant walk from the village (although wouldn't do it between 10am and 4pm in summer).

“Very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

An 20min uphill walk to the open air museum from Goreme is worth the 20TL as long as you haven't already looked around other cave churches/dwellings as they are all very similar, we went there first as an introduction to the caves. Beware the 'Dark Church' cost an extra 10TL and is supposed to be the main attraction of the museum.

It's unique and inpreesive for me. In Taiwan, I am not familiar with religion at all. Here makes me feel how important a religion for human. Too bad, the most part Ilike can't take photo.

“Worth a visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

It's only 1km away from the town so there's no reason to skip this place. Souvenire shop at the enterance is nice too. Nothing 'special', but still worth a visit.
