“Nostalgic indeed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

Bitinya Tours, booked this Hotel for us in Cappadocia, but a Tripadvisor ranking of 18/53 amongst Goreme B&B and Inns (almost a third down from the top in the list) did nurture some apprehensions in our minds before we started our trip.

The Hotel is situated in a narrow alley, up from the main road of Goreme. As we checked in to our rooms, all our apprehensions were replaced by a big WOW! We were totally 2 families of 6 people, and we were given a suite room in the ground floor (called Fireplace room) and another in the top floor (Panorama room). The rooms have no numbers but unique names. There are in total, six cave suites created meticulously within three famed Cappdocian "Fairy Chimneys"

The rooms have different layouts but all are wonderfully and tastefully decorated. Lots of space inside the room, with 2 heaters provided as well, should it get chilly in the night. The view from the window opens up to the small locality of Goreme below, with fairy chimneys, many of which are converted to cave hotels. The upper floor suites provide a wonderful view of the Hot air balloons filling up the early morning sky morning right from the window…a superb scene to behold

A nice sumptuous breakfast is served at the terrace with the Turkish Börek which is made of thin sheets of dough, filled with cheese, apart from the cheese, butter, honey, jam, eggs etc and of course cay or Turkish coffee. We had for one day’s lunch, ordered well in advance Testi Kebabi for ourselves. This is an authentic dish from Central Anatolia, consisting of a mixture of meat and vegetables cooked in a clay pot or jug over fire (testi means jug in Turkish). The clay pot which was sealed with bread dough or foil and was broken quite ceremoniously in front of us when serving. The food was excellent!

We stayed for 3 nights and our experience was excellent. We believe that the Tripadvisor ranking was a bit misleading and would highly recommend Nostalgi Cave Suit

Room Tip: The higher floors have a good view of the balloons rising early in the morning (5.45 am onwards) rig...

My husband, his parents, and I stayed in Cappadocia for 3 nights in early May as part of a 10-day Turkey tour. We booked with Reliable Travel and this hotel was part of the package, so we did not particularly choose it, but it turned out to be wonderful, and our favorite of the trip. The rooms are spacious and authentically "cave." The owner said even the stones that they used to build walls are "old stones," but with modern comfort of course. It's very obvious that everything in that place was built and maintained with great care. The staff kept us updated on the latest tour and pick-up schedule and generally went out of their way to accomodate us. The breakfasts were delicious, with omelettes, a cheese-filled crepe, in addition to the usual "Turkish breakfast" spread. We had dinner at their restaurant every night, because it was so good and convenient. The hotel is walking distance from "downtown Goreme," if you can call it that, since the whole place is so small. Every morning, we awoke to a sky full of hot air balloons. It was a dream!

Room Tip: There are only about 7 or 8 rooms. My husband and I stayed in a regular room and my in-laws got the...

Wonderfully spacious accommodation, tastefully decorated, and great value. Ownership and staff are very detail oriented, incredibly clean. On premises is a very nice restaurant, with an decent wine selection, and the breakfast is quite a treat as well!

I've seen many remarkable geological formations, but taking in Cappadocia for the first time was utterly mind-blowing! What a beautiful, crazy-looking place! We pulled into the Nostalji Hotel after a long day of traveling and we knew we were in for a treat as soon as we entered the reception office. This place exudes hospitality and class. Our room was spacious and stylish with a tv, a thoroughly modern bath, and a coffee/tea station. The bed was comfortable too! It was very cool to be able to stay in an authentic Cappadocian cave, and the luxurious nature of the room definitely didn't hurt. The breakfast is beyond compare. Every table has a mini-buffet laid out upon entering the dining area. They are efficient and very friendly, bringing coffee, tea, juice, water and even omelettes and Turkish pancakes....just try to say "hayir"! It's impossible. These people are determined to make you have a great time. Once, we dallied too long and planned on simply skipping breakfast since our tour was going to begin soon. We got a call to the room: " you have ten minutes, come get some breakfast!" So great. The dinner is excellent too. We ordered the traditional Turkish meals that come in the clay pots. He asked if we had a phone handy and proceeded to let us take turns filming each other cracking open the pots with a tiny hammer. So fun! The location is just a few minute's walk into Göreme, and adjacent to the hotel is a little trail that leads up to some stunning views of the landscape and the town below. We stayed here for three nights initially, and the stayed one more night on our way back from our tour to Mount Nemrut/Urfa. Every moment was excellent; I highly recommend giving this place a try.

We enjoyed our time at Nostalji, a hotel we booked as part of a tour package. The cave rooms are comfortable and have a lot of character. I really liked the decor and the fact that the room was a real cave, yet still comfortable. And if you are claustrophobic, like my mother, have no fear: the majority of the rooms have windows. Breakfast is wonderful and very filling! Good location very close to a ridge where you can have great views of the surrounding valley and fairy chimneys. Wifi was good, plenty of free tea, coffee, and water in the room. We also ate dinner in the restaurant one night and were pleased: good prices although not a very large menu. We have only a couple of minor complaints. My husband and I came with my parents and had two separate rooms. However, the hotel staff didn't seem to give my husband and me the same respect as my parents. Once they came specifically to tell my parents what time to expect a pickup in the morning, and we had to find out by poking our heads out the window to listen. The next day when the pickup for our balloon tour was delayed by an hour, no one bothered to tell us, but they did phone my parents' room. As a result my husband and I were up and ready outside in the rain an hour earlier than necessary (5 am), because the hotel manager hadn't bothered to phone our room as well. The other minor problem is that the bathroom (and to some degree the whole room) smelled like a porta-potty. That sickly sweet toilet smell. (Probably because of poor plumbing in the bathroom). It's not overpowering but definitely reminds you of a porta-potty, which after three days starts to get a little gross. Overall I really liked the hotel, though, and would recommend it.
