“Brilliant!!! Hospitable, gorgeous, clean, and comfortable!! Excellent value...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2011

We wanted to stay in a cave hotel in Cappadocia and decided to try Dervish Cave. We've left with the best impressions of a Turkish hotel to date.

The cave room was spacious, tastefully decorated in Ottoman style, clean with daily housekeeping, all essentials were there. It was chilly at nights, so the room had hot water radiators (we asked them to switch them on). The bed was very comfortable with a choice of pillows. We even had a small jacuzzi in the room. Breakfast spread was extensive served either inside or, on warm days outside in the rose garden overlooking Goreme and uplooking at Uchisar.

The staff (we mostly had contact with Camal) was very helpful. Before we came I was concerned because one poster on TripAdvisor mentioned that the staff was very pushy about selling tours or hot air baloon rides. After spending 3 nights there we have to disagree. They were all very courteous: after a general overview of the area with the map, Camal gave us only the information we were interested in and even advised against a tour that he felt would not be worth cramming into short time that we had there.

Considering that their room price is the same as other hotels nearby, and the quality of the room, staff, and hotel grounds is so nice, it's a steal!

Tip: call them to book directly.

We were delighted with our choice of hotel for our 2-night stay for our family of four with two teenage boys. Dervish Cave Hotel is charming and clean and excellent value for money. The views over Goreme are wonderful, and it's a 5 minute walk downhill into the center of Goreme. But the hill is manageable, and although you have to walk back up, the views are terrific. Cemal was very helpful in arranging all aspects of our touring, including hot air balloon rides and an ATV tour. We highly recommend both! They are amazing. We had limited time, so chose to do private tours. We contracted a car to drive us around for two days, at a very reasonable rate. Cemal was our driver, and although he is not a tour guide, he knew where to go and gave excellent advice. The team at Dervish Cave Hotel are all very friendly and ready to help with all aspects of visiting the Cappadocia area. Dervish Cave House is not 5* luxury, but it is clean, comfortable and warm and the staff are wonderful.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Family Room, No. 3. Very spacious with double bed and two singles.

In the four nights we stayed in the Dervish Cave House, we were impressed time and time again by the generosity and hospitality of Cemal and his wonderful staff. Traveling with a 15 month old toddler, obtaining a baby cot was no problem. Everyone at Dervish was openly warm towards us but especially towards our child.

The close proximity of the hotel to the city center was a great convenience (5 min walk). Free secure Wi-fi provided by the hotel was a plus. Cemal was extremely helpful in pointing us in the right direction for cappadocian sight seeing. As we had a hire car, he would help plan driving routes for our day trips. We had a slight accident with the car and managed to drive on a freshly laid road. As a result, our hire car was covered with wet tar. Cemal directed us to the nearest car cleaning service. He spoke directly to the cleaning company on our behalf to explain the situation. For my partner's 40th birthday, Cemal not only helped organise a hot air balloon ride, but also a cake too!

On our last day, Cemal helped book a shuttle bus to pick us up at 4:30am because we had an early flight. Due to some confusion with daylight savings, we had not adjusted our watches and woke up earlier than we were supposed to. Thinking that our shuttle was late, we rang Cemal up at the wee hours of the morning when any respectable person would still be in bed. He rang the shuttle company and called us back immediately. No complaints at being woken up so early even though the error was ours. His professionalism really left an impression. If you are looking for someone who would go the extra mile for you, then look no further than Cemal and the Dervish Cave House.

We were very happy with our three night stay in Dervish Cave House!! The rooms are simply beautiful, gorgeously furnished and well kept. Very romantic! They have a lovely garden, filled with roses, where my 17 month old son loved running around with the hotel kitties, and a beautiful view over the town. The bed was the most comfortable one we found in Turkey - we slept wonderfully here!

Everyone here was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. It was conveniently close to the center of Goreme and had parking for our rental car. The staff was wonderful in helping us plan our daily activities, but was not pushy about it at all. The price was a wonderful value, and I would highly recommend it! Overall a marvelous experience!!

The one thing I would point out, for those who might be mobility impaired, many of the rooms are only accessible via somewhat poorly lit stone stairs. It didn't bother us at all, but if that's a concern for you, you might want to request a ground floor room.

Our stay at Dervish Cave House was delightful. The hotel is very well located and hospitable. We stayed in Room no. 8 and I strongly recommend it to all couples that want a romantic atmosphere and want to feel as if they are in their honeymoon. The room is located inside a fairy chimney and it's absolutely divine. The window view is spectacular, the room is very clean, very nice decorated, very cosy and relaxing. It was also a nice surprise to find two cups of tea as a welcoming drink - it really makes you feel as if you are at a friend's home and not in a hotel room. Also, in the bathroom you can find slippers, like in 4 star hotels. We really enjoyed starting our days with the great breakfast on the terrace that offered us an amazing view of Goreme and its fairy landscape. I liked that that the breakfast offer was diversified, so we had plenty of food to choose from (four types of cereals). Most important of all, Cemal, the manager, is very welcoming and helpful. He helped us a lot to plan our trips in the region, he booked good tours for us and gave us a lot of information about what we could do and visit. He is also a balloon pilot, so he can arrange great balloon trips at good prices. He and all the staff are very friendly, thus they know how to make you feel at home. We will certainly be back.

I ended up in this hotel because the original hotel we booked overbooked and sent us here. We got a great room right up in the chimney. It was like being inside of a fairytale. The staff were very helpful in helping us to plan activities but didn't push any on us. They were also helpful in helping us reschedule a flight when we realized we booked on the wrong day. The only weird thing about the hotel was that every night at 3 am someone was knocking on the door outside. It was like clockwork and went on for about 10 minutes. Not sure what that was about. But this was a great hotel for the price and I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Capadoccia.

Dervish Cave House is really close to the centre of Goreme- and so was a very convenient place from which to start our daily walks or head out to restaurants at night. Especially , the staff is really helpful and owner who is Dervish introduced us about Goreme... Cemal is very generous with his knowledge of the surrounding valleys and villages and this kept us busy for 2 days. And Cemal is a hot air balloon pilot who is very kind... cave rooms are amazingly wonderful and we stayed at room 2...
