“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013 via mobile

This is a very nice hotel located in a nice town near the waterfront. The food was good and the service and staff wonderful. I would stay here again. It's a overall a great hotel in a small great town.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It is located on the waterfront promenade just a few steps from the "Trojan horse" that was built for the movie called Troy. The rooms are large and comfortable. Our room (number 1403 on the 4th floor) looked directly out onto the waterfront and had a balcony large enough for a couple of chairs.

The room itself was especially spacious. Our queen sized bed was comfortably firm, as we like it The room also had a desk, a couple of chairs, a minibar, and a flat panel TV (around 30-inch). The bath had a tub/shower with a glass enclosure that covers half of the tub.

The breakfast buffet had a large selection of items, including some delicious lentil soup,

The location is great for exploring. The promenade along the waterfront is directly in front of the hotel and it's a close walk to other sites, including the clock tower.

I heard a few people complaining of A/C problems, but we left our balcony door open all night and didn't need the A/C. I don't know if it worked or not.

They offer free WiFi but we couldn't access it from our room. It worked fine in the lobby, though. Friends who were on the third floor had no problem with WiFi.

We would certainly stay at this hotel again if we return to this area.

Stayed for a night. I was put on a 3 bedded room by myself. Didn't try the AC on the room as weather was on the upper 60's. Room is clean and not smokey. View of the beach is great.
Try the nightclub/bar on the top floor as their is a band playing great music with a partial view of the city which was great. Breakfast was simple not much of a variety. Staff were great and helpful.
Did stroll on the beachfront and the locals were very friendly. Suffice to say that the location is safe.

We spent one night. The location was good with a great view of the sea front. The hotel was nice and the food was the same as everywhere. The problem was the hotel has central air/heat. It was set to heat and was in the 80s. After several hours and many complaints they got it set to air conditoning, but it was the middle of the night before it came on. We had a large corner room.

Room Tip: Corner room.

We had one night at the Akol Hotel as part of a Gate 1 tour. Travelling as a triple with our adult daughter the room was spacious enough but the roll out bed was not the greatest experience for an adult. The bathroom was very clean with modern facilities and met our needs for one night. The room was at the rear of the hotel and had a small balcony overlooking the pool area. It was still too cold for the pool to be operating though. The restaurant where we ate a buffet dinner was very busy with multiple tour groups and the staff struggled to keep up with the food. Fortunately we ate early before the third tour group arrived! We were allocated the lovely balcony area which overlooked the sea and the waterfront. On a warm summer night it would be lovely and even in early April on a chilly night the view was beautiful. The area around the hotel had lots of other eateries and bars and a great vibe especially for young people. It was really pleasant to walk along the waterfront. We enjoyed the wooden horse (from the most recent movie of Troy). Breakfast, also served in the same restaurant and was plentiful even though you had to queue and the other tour groups ate everything in sight!

As part of a Gate 1 Turkey tour itinerary, just an average hotel compared to other hotels on the trip. The room was slightly modern, bed comfortable to us, but with no air conditioning-no sleep. Had to leave the windows and door open all night. Great location facing the harbor though. In every hotel on the tour we were told the air conditioning was working, so I would encourage others to think twice about a trip in April to Turkey.
The buffet was adequate for breakfast and dinner,, but plentiful. The staff was accommodating and pleasant..

Room Tip: Can't help when no one had air conditioning. It was necessary in April.
