“Is it a B&B? Is it a resort? Is it a retreat? Or a museum to be?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Whatever describes this countryside place the best, our stay was a treat!
The staff was wonderful especially with a 4 year old girl that recognized them from the year before.

Several guests had been here before and knew what to expect.
The gardens are beautiful with many settings to relax.
The swimming pool has also a large shallow area for small children.

We wish we could have stayed longer, but our flight was already booked.

Thank you Manuela for a lovely stay!

My wife and I recently spent two nights at Bakkhos. The rooms are a bit funky but more than adequate. Don't stay here if you want a television or even radio. With its off the road and out in the country location, the grounds are beautiful and offer many places to relax. The staff is great and the food is wonderful. This is a hotel for experienced travelers who are looking for something that is different and quiet. A great surprise were the other people staying at the hotel. Shared dinners gave us the opportunity to meet and talk with an interesting group of people. This hotel was a very pleasant surprise.

thank you!for your contribution
Yes, Bakkhos gets a lot of travellers, the most important reason for that is ofcourse Ephesus , some of our guests are coming just for 1night, and feel sorry after that! There are more beautiful places to visit in the area, like Priene, Miletos Didyma Claros Bafa Lake etc .
And instead of staying in noisy city/beachresort of Kusadasi, or a more simple place to stay in Selcuk, some guests prefer to stay in the piece of the nature, because of our garden as well. As Bakkhos' garden is big ( aprox 5500 m2 without the size of the vineyard), guests really enjoy the piece here. The guests you meet here, have the same thing in mind so indeed they meet nice guests which gives an extra dimension during their stay! Nice conversations on the table , as we serve the guests at the same time their dinner, so they are able to meet other people easier. But if you really want to have a romantic dinner for two without others, which is exceptional, we set up a seperate table.

A great discovery in the farmlands, and only 10 minutes to Kusadasi. - so if you don't want to stay in the noise, hustle and bustle of Kusadasi, this is the place. If you want to chill out and not travel, the gardens are extensive, filled with hammocks and easy chairs in all sorts of nooks and crannies around the pool area. Friendly and helpful staff, with owner Manuela in the lead.

Thank you very much
Yes it is correct, Bakkhos is close to Kusadasi, a nice but busy town/beach resort , but yet close to the interesting culturel sites of Ephese , Priene and lot more. It is the grean area here behind Kusadasi where Bakkhos is located, green hills, olive trees, vineyards among unspoilt villages
and our Kirazli road leads to Ephese in 15 minutes only
Man can enjoy the peace here in our garden, no loud music but the chirping sound of the birds

We have just returned from our first visit to Turkey, and have been absolutely bowled over by Bakkhos. The pictures on the website looked good, but the reality was amazing, I have never stayed anywhere so beautiful. We arrived tired after an overnight flight to a friendly welcome form Manuela and her staff, and offered lunch in our room, and from then on nothing was too much trouble; advice, help, loan of guidebooks, tea at any hour. Our room (the family room) was extremely comfortable, large beds and so much space, and I completely fell in love with the patio area, the perfect place to sit and read.

Most evenings we ate at Bakkhos, delicious home cooking with soup, mezzes which could easily have been a meal in themselves, main course and dessert. Guests sat round a huge communal pine table next to a fireplace, very pleasant in the April evenings, and we found it very friendly, and great for sharing tips and ideas about trips out. Breakfast was round the same table on the cooler days, but mostly in the garden. Everywhere you looked had little artistic touches; ceramic beads on the keyrings, framed embroideries on the walls, bowls of pomegranates on the tables.

Bakkhos is ideally situated for exploring ancient remains, countryside, and markets, and Manuela's knowledge of the local area is extensive and freely offered. But whatever we did all day, coming home (and it really did feel like that!) was a special moment, walking back into a little oasis of peace and beauty. All the staff made us feel welcomed and valued, and I cannot recommend this wonderful place highly enough.

Room Tip: All the rooms looked lovely, the family room is large and light and has a more private patio.

This review is long overdue, but we loved our stay at Bakkhos so much we vowed to still review it! We went on our honeymoon to Turkey in April, and ended our trip at Bakkhos. When we mentioned it was our honeymoon, the owner gave us one of the biggest suites for the same price as a standard room! Manuela was extremely hospitable, friendly, and has truly created a haven in the middle of the Turkish countryside. We spent our days eating their delicious breakfast of olives, eggs, fresh cheeses and bread followed by hours of relaxing and reading in the various nooks all over the property. Since Bakkhos is quite a distance from the city centre and we didn't have a car, we really appreciated being able to order drinks and dinner (truly delicious!) at the guesthouse. When we were leaving, Manuela offered to drive us into town so we could catch our taxi bus, which was very helpful! We definitely will recommend Bakkhos to any and all of our friends who plan to visit Turkey. It is a must stay for anyone looking for a few days/week of relaxation and retreat. Thanks Manuela for a great stay!

One word to describe this place? Paradise....We absolutely loved this quaint, charming hotel. It was hard to get to by car from the airport but trust me, it was worth it. I travelled here with my partner, his sister and his 75 year old mother. We were welcomed with open arms the minute we parked the car in the driveway. The staff are incredibly kind and friendly.

The hotel itself is charming. The ground and the pool area are so cozy and beautiful. You can pretty much stay there all day and not leave the hotel. The big bean bags and the comfy banquettes are all wonderful details that not most hotels have.

The breakfasts there are soooooo good. Eating the yummy dishes under a hot blazing sun was a highlight for all of us. The meals that the staff prepared are some of the best we have had during our stay in Turkey. Don't even think about eating elsewhere. The communal table allowed us to meet and mingle with other guests and it was a sheer delight to dine and chat with them.

Manuela, the owner was a gracious host and always made sure that we were taken care of and offered us a lot of information that made our visits so much easier.

The only thing negative would be the dogs barking late at night but this is not the hotels fault. Bring earplugs and mosquito repellent .

I would recommend this hotel to anyone in a heartbeat...Thanks to Manuela and her whole staff for making us feel like home!

Yes, the dogs.... we have dogs ourselves here, but they are inside at night, one is outside, old lady, and only barking when somebody would come close tou our house at night. But unfortunatley Turkey has street-dogs too much or dogs from neighbouring farm-houses, in the field, who have no "free life" like ours and sometimes, some nights, they can be restless and start barking for some reason...
we cannot do anything about that...we are situated in the nature and we can arrange a lot , but indeed the weather and noises from the nature...
You were lovely guests and it was really a pleasure to get to know you!

What a find is Bakkhos Guesthouse. We originally booked for 2 nights and stayed 3. A very quiet location that feels a bit like the countryside of Tuscany but you are only a few kilometres away from the hustle and bustle of all the tourist areas. Easy access to all the main sights and when you've worn yourself out you can come back to your little oasis and relax by the pool before a home cooked Turkish dinner. The breakfasts are traditional, delicious and plenty to choose from. The staff are fabulous and the owner, Manuela, is an absolute delight. I would certainly stay here again and for longer next time. Highly recommended.

You were enjoying yourselves so good, that makes us feel very happy ! too, believe me.
It is always feeling so good when guests meet other guests here with the same goal in live , to have nice conversations on the table or in the garden. Meeting different guests from different countties, joing the table with eachother, great! Thank you for your compliments
