this was our 2nd visit to this hotel, we travel as a family with ages from 8 to 82 and Tusan beach is on of the few resorts that caters for everyone's needs, two of our party are disabled and use specialist mobility scooters to get around, this hotels enables them to use every part of the hotel and its facilities without obstruction. We arrived at 10pm to find that our tour operator had not informed the hotel that we had disabled travellers with us and although the hotel does have specially adapted rooms one had not been reserved.,] A room for my parents was reserved in the new block and they are fabulous even better than last time,we were asked to accept the rooms for that night and to come to reception the following day to sort the problem which because the hotel was full be doubted would happen. As we approached reception Mehlik and his team greeted us with smiles they knew all about the problem and a solution had been arranged if it was suitable for us.Two rooms had been reserved for us to look at one an adapted room and the other straight opposite both in the new block but wouldn't be available til after lunch as people had still to check out, we were given email addresses for Mehlik and reception and told next time we book to contact him directly about our room requirements and they would arrange it.We would stress to anyone thinking of booking who is disabled to contact the hotel before hand because wheel chairs and scooters will not fit into the smaller lifts in the older blocks the corridors are much narrower and rooms considerably smaller.
The staff at Tusan Beach are friendly and go out of their way to help nothing is to much trouble they seem to have a lot of groundsmen and housekeeping staff who keep the public areas spotless the ladies who look after the bedrooms are polite and leave wonderful hearts and flowers in your room or sheets in the shape of swans, the little touches that make your stay extra special. The Duty managers are always walking around checking that all the guests are happy and the staff have nothing to report. If you are unhappy about something they would like you to approach them and give them chance to resolve the issue. The dining room is self service and can be chaotic at times but we found just sitting and enjoying a wonderful sunset for 20 mins til the made rush is over made dining enjoyable. This hotels guest come mainly from Russia and Germany and the food is international we never had difficulty in finding something to eat just the opposite everything is fresh and well cooked, every night they offer a selection of chicken/turkey red meat and fish, plus a vegetarian option, various salads and pasta, rice, chips and potatoes and more desserts than i should really put on my plate. Breakfast and lunch also offer plenty of choice, you can also visit the pool bar for lunch which does burgers, sandwiches, pasta and pizza but all have different time slots once you have figured out what they cook at what times its easy honest! and fruit platters are available from the pool bar too.If you can still fit any food in afternoon tea is from 5pm and ice lollies for the children from 3pm.
The hotel has 3 pools the large one gets very busy and sunbeds get taken very quickly the animation team start at 10am and so does the music a little loud for us and not our sort but it obviously suits a lot of people as the area is very busy, we tend to spend our time at the smaller pool sunbeds are always available even in the afternoon Sezar the life guard is excellent as we had to unfortunately witness and quick to react when a lady got in to difficulty, he will move beds and help in anyway he can, the third pool is new and partially covered and sunbeds are plentiful around that and the garden area. I think they have more sunbeds that guests, the beach is small but clean and secure children can play safely there are no large waves and gently slopes suitable for children and non swimmers, the water is clear and you can see the little fish and hermit crabs bring your snorkel.
The evening entertainment is the only area we could say needs work although we understand that the number of different languages spoken makes this difficult, the team work long hours and some of the outside acts are very good we really enjoyed the safari acrobats.
The hotel is situated a little way outside Kusadasi but a dolmus passes outside the hotel every 5 mins and take approx 15 mins to reach the centre of town. On wed which is market day it drops you right next to the market and follows the same route back so easy to pick up if you remember landmarks although the market is not always as cheap as you think and some of the shops in the old bazar offer better deals, don't be afraid to haggle it is expected and the turkish traders seem to enjoy the banter. The small cafe next to the cruise liners offers the best view of Bird Island and the most amazing views of the liners for next to nothing for a coffee or soft drink.
The hotel offers a book swap service all the english books are kept in the duty managers office which has an open door policy if somebody is in they are only to happy to talk about your holiday and what you think of their hotel while you search for a new read.
My daughter attended kids club and Imogen says hello Leah, Roxy and Mariyah, if you read this, the activities are fun and suitable for most age groups they work hard to entertain and keep order with a very mixed age and nationality group the girls deserve a medal. we are already planning our next trip and look forward to revisiting Tusan Beach and hearing about the refurbishments they are planning for the next phase of upgrading the hotel.
