Just back from our holiday at thhe Surmeli,THE GOOD POINTS - the hotel reception is lovely, also nice and cool nice to escape to for a drink whilst the sun is blazing, the staff at reception and lobby bar all very nice and spoke good english. The food in the hotel was good we never went hungry there was always somthing to eat, if you wanted fish n chips and bacon sarny's then stay in England!! the Spa was brill and very relaxing, all three outdoor pools where clean and well maintained,The beach was great and Ferhet from the tropic bar was amazing always made you feel special and always rememberd what you drank he is a credit to the hotel, if you do visit the surmeli you must take a trip to Murphy's cafe /bar they serve great food and very nice steak the staff are all great they provide free transport to and from the hotel, you can even do your shopping and go back to the hotel at anytime you want, FRANKIE will be around the hotel wearing his bright shirts, Frankie became our tour guide nothing was to much for him he seems to work 24/7 !!
THE BAD POINTS- our room was on the 1st floor with no balcony became very stuffy during the day, the room was very dated and the carpet was well used the cleaners did come everyday but was in the evening whilst we was trying to have a chill from a day at the beach. The waiters and waitresses in the main resturant did prefere to serve the Turkish their drinks before others, the pool bar staff where rude also very reluctant to serve you, and on more than one occasion we got dirty looks thrown at us for asking for drinks. The hotel shop was extremly expensive i recomend you wait until you go to town and buy any sweets, crisps ect from there. whilst we was there the indoor plunge pool was not open.

All in all we got what we paid for and we had a great holiday!

Room Tip: any rooms other than on the 1st floor. the rooms on the 1st floor do not have balcony's

We returned this year after a fantastic holiday last year.It is the first time we have ever returned to the same hotel and i was abit worried things may not be as nice. But far from it every thing once again was lovely. Weather wasnt great but that didnt spoil things. The animation guys are lovely especially Kevin and Tayfun it was really nice that they knew we were coming and came and met us in reception at midnight which im sure isnt in there contract! I have three boys aged 6,11 and 13 and they were entertained by the guys all the time.Serhat was new this year and he was lovely he kept my eldest son happy when unfortunatly he had an accident and needed stiches.I was very impressed with hotel staff and the on site nurses regarding this. Also the guys consently checked to see how jamie was what more could you ask for.Our room was clean and tidy all the time. Restaurant staff do speak very good english and are also very friendly sometimes politeness comes with politeness and i think some people forget that. Getting food at meal times is abit of a problem and feel more food should be ready at busy times only complaint i have really and im sure the restaurant manager could sort this. I will say the snack bar at the pool is amazing and completly differant the chef there was very nice.We are already thinking of returning again next and hope that all the guys will still be there as made my boys holiday.

Room Tip: Garden rooms great for families and near the pools

Hello friends,
The first thing I want to say that I had a lovely holiday in Sürmeli Efes Hotel. I'm 18 years old and was with my parents and my two younger siblings for the second time there. It is an incredible place, with great easy and very comfortable facility. Especially the animation team makes the holiday very good mood. You are up early every day and take care of the well of the guests. Here I would like to give thanks to an A-Lee and Kevin. They have made my Holiday.
I give it five stars and can only recommend it for young and old.

Room Tip: All Rooms are very nice and clean

Just got back from a lovely 10 days at this hotel. The complex is absolutely stunning, especially at night, and there's always a great atmosphere around the pools thanks to the animation team, particularly Kevin who never failed to make us laugh! The whole team was great but Kevin is the star. Staff are all very friendly, including the general manager Sadun Alp who made us feel very welcome. Rooms are basic and cosy, beds always made and towels always renewed, but we hardly spent any time in the room as the grounds of the hotel were so nice. Night time entertainment is great, the animation team comedy show was hilarious and when this finishes you can go and relax/dance to some live music at the poolside bar. The food inside the restaurant was very hit or miss for me but there was always something cooking outside to fit anyone's taste. All in all had a great time and would definitely revisit!

I shall begin by saying we had a great holiday, so if you are booked go off and enjoy! its a pleasant hotel with allot of minor niggles but over all if your not fussy you will find it ok.
This was our first time in Turkey, previous holidays for us are family holidays in 4 or 5* hotels in the canaries, Dominican rep, or Tunisia so we know what to expect from a overseas 5* star and were not expecting the Ritz hotel.

I shall list the good and bad points.

Good
plenty of choice of pools.
plenty of sun beds
lovely beach.
nice lobby
bed quiet comfy
Turkish bath/spa
snack bar and bars open long hours.
Bar staff polite
public area clean apart from men's loo near disco
good games room
animation team

Bad
rooms bodged up –we had a premier sea view room on floor 8, fittings were poor, bathroom tiny no plug for bath, beds not changed all week, air con effective but noisy -
food bland and dinning room a shambles! I asked the waiter for a table for 8 he pointed us to two different tables of 4 on opposite sides of the room!
all week we didn't get served with a drink without having physically follow a waiter and tap his shoulder often more than once!
food typical all inclusive fodder often cold but the lengthy queuing meant it was cold by the time you got it.
breakfast awful! hard boiled eggs both 3 and 5 mins so hard boiled and dry they choked you.
juice need E numbers! fresh juice had to be paid for.
not a great fan of spicy beans, spicy kebab sausage and aubergine for breakfast so I stuck to bread and coffee!the worst part of this hotel is its customer service we had issues with our return transfer never before in a five star hotel have i known the reception refuse to ring someone for you and help with the language barrier.
because of this our transfer didn't turn up and we made the airport with only 4 minutes to spare before check in closed.
the hotel would not help us by then as we had checked out!

The poolside/beach/hotel facilities are what gives this hotel its 5 stars, it is let down by room quality, customers services and food/restaurant issues.
the hotel would do well to look at the way hotels in the riu/princess or Iberostar do things! and learn as the setting and facilities on offer could make a outstanding hotel if correctly managed.

Room Tip: higher floors, book prem sea view
