“Better than ever and improving every year. A Best Value Holiday.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2011

Just got back after three weeks.
Difficult to find fault with anything as everything was good.
We paid a little over £1500 for three weeks AI. !!!!!!
It was cheaper than staying at home! and all the staff are excellent.
This was our eleventh visit and it greaves me to see poor reports about the Surmeli.
Of course you can get better hotels - we have stayed at some in the area - but at a much greater cost; we always return to the Surmeli absolutely amazing value.
They have now linked into FACEBOOK so I am sure we will be seeing a lot more glowing reports.
A big big thanks to all the staff and management, you are all doing a superb job.

Keep it up and see you again; soon.

Kind regards and best wishes,

Philip + Jane Bolton.

First, the location. Surmeli is far from everything. You need a taxi to get to Kusadasi, and a taxi to get to Ephesus. Outside of the hotel, there is nothing to see or do for miles around. They do have a good location on the water with beach access. There are also indoor and outdoor pools. Food was better than average, which was the best thing about this hotel. The room was small and worn. The television was old, there was no alarm clock, and the minibar was empty. Most of the clientele appears to be families on vacation from Europe, here for the all-inclusive stay. I would stay closer to Kusadasi. If all you want is a location on the beach, then this place would be OK. Service was hard to find. Another person in the group had drinks wrongfully billed to his room, but after some discussion, the charges were dismissed.

Room Tip: I stayed in the main building. The other buildings could be nicer.

Guest who stays with us for one night has no right to criticise the hotel.Travellers know that hotel is outside of town for 8 km and it is clearly mentioned on internet site and travel agencies information kit. There is no alarm clock that is true but if you ask your mini bar to refill from the reception,we can provide this with a pleasure and this is given as an information during your stay.If we charge the bill for a wrong room we can apologise for this but guest must write their room correctly and also this is not a reason to call our hotel as a worst hotel. This is not acceptable, when you write a comment please be careful about your words.Thank you

We recently returned from our 3rd visit to the Surmeli Efes and have just enjoyed our best ever holiday in Turkey. After almost 40 holidays to Turkey I can honestly say that the Surmeli has all the ingredients for a great holiday - beautiful hotel, brilliant staff, fantastic beach side location, a great variety of food on offer, 3 pools providing sunbed availability at all times, and not forgetting the hard working animation team who provide daytime games and evening entertainment of the highest calibre. There are many varied reviews of the Surmeli on TripAdvisor - some however I find almost unbelievable having experienced the hotel at first hand. Yes, there are guests from many countries across Europe - and the hotel hosts business conventions - but in our experience this contributes to a unique atmosphere within the hotel.
Special mention must be made of the bar and restaurant staff - a smile and a kind word provide the key to service of the highest level. Management are friendly, hands on and always available. Every effort is made to ensure that guests are made welcome and any problems are dealt with promptly.
For the perfect relaxing holiday try the Surmeli Efes - you will not be disappointed.

just a short one, got back on sunday & have to say I had an amazing time. rooms are spacious, all with a sea view, the staff are helpful & friendly, its clean, the beach is beautiful (known locally as the gold beach) for its sparkly sand, good entertainment, food was good if not a little samey. the only downside was we flew to bodrum which ended up being nearly a 3 hour journey to the hotel so nearly wasted a day travelling. might try izmir next time. make sure you visit the wellness centre in the hotel & have a turkish bath (im sure thats the reason i didn't burn!!). there is a market in the hotel grounds on a sunday & be sure to visit Ephesus, via a dolmus at the hotel entrance, where u can see the magical ancient lost city. all in all I had a brilliant time & will definately be going back for 2 weeks next year.

Before reviewing the hotel, just a word about the airport transfer. We flew into Bodrum which isn't that close to Kusadasi. If you elect to take the hotel transfer bus, be prepared for a LONG journey because after waiting at the airport for some considerable time, it will then stop at other hotels in Kusadasi before getting to Surmeli Efes which is on the other side at the end of the line so to speak. Also our bus driver got lost and did a few hair-raising manoeuvres backwards up steep hills on narrow roads in the dark. So we decided to return to the airport by taxi and going like the clappers without stopping it took 2 hours which is long enough!

The hotel, however, made up for the rather irksome outbound journey there. All the staff are friendly and helpful and we found our accommodation comfortable (we didn't stay in the main high rise part of the hotel but in one of the buildings in the grounds). We had a family suite which consisted of a double room, living room (with a proper bed in the corner for our daughter to sleep in), a private patio (we were on the ground floor) and a large bathroom. We thought it odd there were no clothes hangers but they sent us some upon request. There seemed to be a chronic leak from under the bath (suspect new-fangled push-fit plumbing) which despite various attempts never got fixed during our stay but that aside, we were happy with the accommodation.

The hotel is on a huge and beautiful site with a spacious, sandy beach and several pools and outside bars and there were always plenty of sunbeds to choose from wherever one decided to go. The all-inclusive deal was great with lots of choice from the buffets and that included things from various grills outside on the terrace. The local beer is very refreshing!

Having come a long way from the airport one was at least well placed to visit nearby Ephesus (about 30 mins drive) and there are plenty of bus trips there and to other places in the area. Kusadasi itself is lovely and one can easily get a bus or cab into the centre - there is a huge outdoor market. Be ready to do some hard bargaining...they expect it. Also if you want a really good designer leather coat or bag just ask at reception and they will get a car sent from one of the outlets. But be prepared to haggle and get a good price. They will give you some Turkish coffee whilst trying things on!

So in summary I recommend this hotel and would have no hesitatation returning there particularly if I could fly to an airport a bit closer.

After spending a week on a guilet, which was great. The hotel was what we expected and more. The hotel, when you get real was worth twice as much as much as we paid.Paying £415 for two all inclusive, all those who winge need a good slap. You cant live in the uk for that. I am now on a diet, not through eating too much, but seeing the state of some people who gorge themselves senseless and cannot move, o wonder we, in the UK, are spending loads on the NHS for operations for chunksters who need lower limb operations. WAKE up Fatty, lose the pounds and you wont need the opeartion. The whole experience was good with no problems. Dont go on the horse trip advertised as it is a rip off, but not the hotels fault. Ephesus is only a 3 lire bus ride away and 20 lira to get in, dont pay £25 for this trip. Go into Selcuk to do shopping as it is a small town, no grief.

Room Tip: Only know 2303 is good
