“good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

the hotel is old but well maintained. They have clean rooms, friendly staff, and good WIFI connection. However we experienced trouble using the phone line and the elevator. The elevator has no detector, it just opens and closes even if someone was still on the door of the elevator (ouch..). Breakfast was ok, it had less options. The location of the hotel is great, 5 minutes away from restaurants and shopping centre.

Room Tip: beware of the elevator if you are travelling with children

We stayed 18/11/12 - 25/11/12. We chose this hotel for its location, indoor heated pool and value for money however I was disappointed to find that the indoor pool was quite cool and very small: even I could swim a full circuit in less than 1 minute! The gym and pool were free between 11:00 - 19:00 but all other facilities - steam room, sauna etc had charges applied. The outdoor pool and terrace area were closed for the winter as was the dining room. Our evening meal consisted of 4 courses: soup, pasta or salad, beefburgers or chicken and a sliced apple and satsuma or cold rice pudding. There was no choice of menu and these variations were over different days and not an option daily. The food was just like school dinners and the mash potato was so thin it could have been sucked through a straw! I would suggest it was packet mash. The hotel switched off the hot water for one day and when it came on in the evening it was the colour of mud for several hours, making it unusable. The hotel next door was being totally renovated so there was constant banging, drilling and noise all day, finishing around 18:00. I realise that the Derici hotel could not be responsible for this but its worth knowing how it could affect a holiday out of season. I have to say I wouldn't recommend this hotel out of season but would hope it fares better in season. The location was ideal although the main road outside prevented us from sleeping with the door open due to noise all through the nightcluding stray dogs barking every evening and the air conditioning was not sufficient to chill our otherwise warm and stuffy room. The staff at reception were very helpful and the maids were lovely, the staff in the bar area never cracked a smile and everything seemed a chore for them even though we tipped every evening. The tip boxes in the bar, at reception and the breakfast room were a bit offputting. The breakfast choice was average and there was plenty of time to eat: 07:00- 10:00.
Overall it was central, clean and very average, nothing to make it stand out from the others and definitely not 4 star, more like 2+ - 3 star at most.

Room Tip: We had room 217 which is above the dining room but at the front and overlooking the sea, I would sug...

This hotel was more than we expected ....... had all the amenities we needed; however, being the time of year it was the pool water was cold and the indoor pool could have been warmer. The breakfast selection was the usual offered in the hotels - no complaints here. Location is great and the service we received was exemplary. We stayed here for three days while touring the area.

This is a centrally located hotel. Its ranked as 4 star but I would give it 3.5 stars. We went in October and the weather was lovely. The hotel is very clean and the cruise ships dock across the road, the shops, bars and restaurants are just a 5 minute walk away. We spent alot of our time at rooftop pool it is a small pool but ideal and views are amazing. They serve lunch there from 12:30 onwards, usual burger and chips and sandwiches etc. There is a buffet just below pool from 6pm onwards and views again are amazing, gorgeous salads and 2 choices for main and several desserts. you can pay for this half board or €9 for 3 courses so great value.
I didn't really bother much with breakfasts but for a quick bite to eat its grand, there is bread there, frankfurter sausages, boiled eggs, cheese, ham, orange juice.

Air conditioning worked fine too.
I would definitely stay here again as its location is fantastic.

Room Tip: If you choose sea view room it will be noisier as well.

We stayed at Derici Otel last year in October and enjoyed it so much that we re-visited this year in October and enjoyed it immensely. The management and staff are very accommodating and on each visit we got the sea facing view room. The hotel is central and only a short walk to the port, marina, many good restaurants, shops and to the bus station and from here you can travel to other good location such as Selcuk, Pumakkale and others. Last year we decided on Derici after reading good reviews on tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. The hotel is clean, the room is spacious and well maintained daily. The staffs are well spoken in English and polite.
We booked B&B as Kusadasi and Selcuk has many good restaurants that we wanted to try out. The breakfast is typical Turkish that was to our liking as we are light eaters. The variety is there for every ones taste without fried eggs.
We will continue to visit Derici Otel on a yearly basis as a central point to visit other good places to explore in Turkey.

Room Tip: Front sea view rooms have the balcony and offer great views of the port to the left, where the big c...

The rating is simply for what you may expect from a 4 star hotel, with some restoration and better service can be a decent 3 star, but for now, is not even that.
The location was perfect for us, we used it as a sleeping place for a couple of tours to Efess and Pumakkale, in the coastal avenue and a 5 minutes walk from downtown, if you are looking to stay near the beach that's not the place.

The rooms are tiny, clean but they need to be renewed urgently, and the bathroom has only a soap dispenser in the shower. that´s all the amenities you'll find.

The TV set is a very old 14" CRT, the safe box must be activated from the front desk and you must pay it for use it.

If you get a fron room you´ll enjoym a nice view, we weren´t that lucky qnd we saw a parking lot.

Breakfast is good, not fancy but decent.

You can't get towels for the pool or beach, you must have your own.

People is nice, like everywhere in Turkey, but not especially helpful.

So, unless you get very cheap, avoid it.

Room Tip: Get another hotel :)

We booked this hotel mainly because it was a very cheap 4* hotel with good reviews. I wasnt very impressed by the photos i had seen online but was pleasantly surprised by what we saw in real.

At check in we requested for a sea facing room and were delightfully accomodated. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious and had the most magnificent view! The bathroom had a big bath with a nice high pressure shower head which is exactly what we needed after the long exhausting trip.

The hotel is located a short walk away from this island, dont know what it's called, lots of restaurants, shopping, pubs & public transport.

The only minus for me was the breakfast, however let me point out that it seemed to be a common problem with most hotels in Turkey. Although they offered more than the standard Turkish breakfast (baguette, boiled eggs, tomatoes, cucumber, cheese, olives, butter, turkish tea/coffee) that frankly i am not a fan of & that some hotels only offered, like english tea, cereal & pastries except they were stale, fresh juice which was actually canned juice, oily sausages and omelette.

All said you shouldnt let the breakfast get in the way of booking a very nice hotel in a great location with a brilliant view.

Room Tip: Choose the sea facing rooms!
