“Stay somewhere else!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2011

Our travel company booked us into our hotel, and it was our least favourite place we stayed in Turkey. We seemed to have been the first customers of the season, so I'm not sure if this is why we had such an awful stay. The hotel was freezing - it was damp and dank. Even with the heater on in our room (it wasn't central heat), the room was so cold! I'm sure that this wouldn't be an issue in the summer, but that damp feeling felt pretty permanent.

When we got to our room, I found a couple small bugs in the bed, and I'm pretty sure I came across hair that didn't belong to me. The shower was TINY and very uncomfortable to use. When we had first arrived, the hot water wasn't even turned on yet. On top of that, our toilet only flushed 25% of the time.

The location for this hotel wasn't great either - about a 20 minute walk to the city centre, but it's all up hill and a pain to get to. As this hotel wasn't that fantastic to begin with, it'd be worth it to get something closer.

On the bright side, food was good, and the staff was pretty friendly.

“Wonderful hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2006

We booked a package deal which took us to Bodrum Airport, without a transfer! The best airport would have been Izmir, but we 'cadged' a lift at 2am from a coach driver, paid him and he took us straight to the Albora Hotel. The hotel - first impression is of an Art Deco facade but looked very modern. We had a warm welcome and help with our luggage into our room. The room was small but pleasant, with a small balcony overlooking the swimming pool. Outside the rooms there were large foyers, with sofas, coffee tables, and enormous windows. The room had TV, (not any English channels), hairdryer, twin beds. In the morning breakfast consisted of several options, it was buffet style. The dining room overlooked the swimming pool and was quiet and cool. The dining room staff are absolutely super, nothing too much trouble. They were very courteous and with a marvellous sense of humour. We grew to like them very much. The owners introduced themselves, and again went out of their way to make us feel at home. The hotel has a lovely roof area, with a bar. Use of the pool was allowed in the evenings and this proved to be very popular. It takes about 20 minutes to walk into Kusadasi, but it is downhill and along the coast. It is no problem getting a dolmus (bus) if you don't want to walk. Overall it was a good experience. If there were any complaints, it would be that there is an extra charge to use the Pool Table, and darts, etc. My partner wasn't too keen on the food, but it is mainly traditional Turkish fare, with lots of aubergines, and humus type recipes, but I didn't mind it myself. We did miss the evening meal a couple of times and ate in town. The shower is the usual type that one often finds in Turkey, and Greece. Even though it had doors, the water still floods the floor, and presents a nuisance for the next person using the bathroom. We are returning to Kusadasi in September as we have bought a property there, but we will visit the Albora Hotel to say hello.

  • Liked — The friendliness of the staff
  • Disliked — Food, and shower area (not the shower itself, that was amazing in strength!)
  • Tips/Secrets — Check out the roof area.
