We were on a cruise that stopped in Kusadasi and our group of 6 friends wanted to visit Ephesus. Our friend booked through Ephesis Shuttle online. The tour guide Melissa picked us up at port with our name identified right on time. We had her the entire day along with our private driver in a van. This was so welcomed after so many cruise ship excursions that herded us through, often with 35 to 40 people in a group.
Melissa was a fun young lady that spoke English very very well. She was also knowledgeable with history, geography, and Ephesus. She tailored the tour to our interests, gave us plenty of free time to explore. We went to the Terrace Houses, the Amphitheatre, Celsus Library, to name a few highlights.
At the end of the tour we had lunch at this wonderful outdoor terrace restaurant that's "Mom's Kitchen", homemade Turkish dishes, buffet style with so many wonderful food. We went back to try all and took seconds. The optional carpet presentation was a "take it or leave it". Our group decided to see it, and it was educational. No pressure sales person. The men truly took pride in the rugs they produced in this factory (there were women making rugs when we were there). They offered us coffee and tea, when we were done, we politely thanked them. No chasing us out the door.
The cost was cheaper than what the cruise ship offered, included the lunch stop. We got dropped off a couple of hours before the cruise ship boarding time, with room to do plenty of shopping at Kusadasi!
