“Awesome tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

My girlfriends and I recently cruised through the Mediterranean and decided to book a tour of Ephesus for our day at the port of Kusadasi, and boy did we book the right tour! Our tour group had a total of 6 people plus our tour guide, Melissa. We met Melissa and the driver at the port entrance and were greeted by a very spacious and cool (temperature) van/mini bus. We hopped right on board and began our tour.

We started our trip with the House of Virgin Mary before entering into the ancient city of Ephesus. Ephesus was awesome to see, it was just amazing to see these ruins that were still present after thousands of years, and even the ruins that had fallen to see the underground piping system was cool to see the knowledge of structure and engineering they had even back then. Melissa was very knowledgable about the city and all the different buildings and did a great job of walking us through the city and painting us a picture of what it would have looked like in its prime time.

About halfway through the city of Ephesus, we stopped and took a tour of the Terrace Houses. This was quite a site to see, not only could you make out the walls and boundaries of each house and rooms, but some of the detailing was even still intacted. The painting on the walls, and the mosiac floorings! Couldn't believe how it was able to survive for so long, it was beautiful. At the very end of the city we stopped and saw the amphitheater, which has been used as recently as 2001 when Elton John played there. Now that is just cool. Melissa, let us play around in the amphitheater, put on a song and dance before we headed back to the van.

On our way to lunch we stopped at a pottery making shop and learned how to make the beautiful and decadent plates and pottery that is seen all throughout the country. After a brief stint here we head to lunch at a very authentic restaurant that felt like we were in a family kitchen. The food was DELICIOUS.

We ended the tour with St. John's Basillica and the sight of Atemission Temple, one of the 7th wonders of the anciet world.

This tour was by far my favorite on the trip. Not only were the sights cool to see, but Melissa was great. Young and energetic and very knowledgable about the sights and the town in general. Also, going through the private company wa cheaper and more comfortable than going through the cruise.

Highly recommend this tour and Melissa!

“Great time and best deal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

We used Ephesus Shuttle when we had a cruise excursion. I emailed over 25 tour companies and even taxi companies and this was the best deal! They had the best prices and best reviews on Tripadvisor. Whenever I emailed for information I received quick helpful responses back.

When we arrived in Kusadasi from our cruise ship there was someone waiting with our name on a sign. We then were quickly escorted to a large a/c van for just me and my husband. Our guide was young and spoke English very well and he even grew up in the town Ephesus is in so it was neat hearing what it was like to grow up right by Ephesus and watch the process of it being discovered more and more each year. We decided on the spot to go to the Terrace Houses since we had more time than we realized and he was totally flexible and understanding and had tickets on him so we could tour the Terrace Houses as well. We had extra time at the end so he drove us over to see what is left of the Temple of Artemes and to see the outside of the Basilica of St. John. He offered to take us to a rug making demonstration but we didn't want to and he was fine with that. They gave us a small box of Turkish delight at the end also.

We usually don't spend this much on private tours and usually always take public transportation and use Rick Steves audio guide tours for cheap, but since we were on a cruise and only had 4 hours we knew we had to find someone who would drive us directly there quickly since it is far from Kusadasi. (We would have been happy taking the small group tour with this company to save money, but the times didn't work with our cruise).

The only disappointment was that he didn't know much at all about the Christian history of Ephesus which is why we came to see it, but we just re-read parts of Acts about Paul's trip here on our own before we got there and researched it more ourselves later.

“Ephusus Shuttle in Kusadasi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

We were on cruise trip through the Mediterranean and saw the reviews on Tripadvisor for this private tour before we left so we booked via the internet (Cheaper that the trips organised through the cruise) We were not disappointed! We were greeted at the port by Pinar Sezer and we were quickly on our way in a private car . It was an excellent tour which included the "Terraced Houses" and the other main Ephesus sights, all was were well covered by Pinar who gave us time to explore on our own at certain points, a style which more than suited us. Lunch was included which was also very enjoyable and informative. We stopped in at a carpet shop which was very informative but the owners did give us the hard sell for the carpets which was the only sad part of the tour.
Thanks Pinar and "Ephesus Shuttle" for a great tour.

“Another glowing review of Ephesus Shuttle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

I cannot say enough good things about Ephesus Shuttle. We used their services for our cruise ship stop in Kusadasi as well as Istanbul. I think they are mostly known for excursions in Kusadasi to Ephesus but they can book any trip around Turkey especially in Istanbul. We knew a lot of people who were going to do Istanbul on their own but we felt better having a guide. It was an amazing day. And because we booked both cities with Epeheus Shuttle, we received a nice discount.
Communication with Suzan was perfect and all of my questions were addressed immediately. Every excursion went off without a hitch. We enjoyed Bob in Ephesus as well as Amy in Istanbul. Both were extremely knowledgeable and a joy to be around. All were on time and we had no issues with time management whatsoever. Especially important when you are traveling on a cruise.
Also arranged transportation to the Istanbul airport for my daughter, who could not remain on the cruise with us because of work obligation and this too, was seamless.
Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about Ephesus Shuttle and highly recommend them. Would be happy to answer any questions.

“Excellent tour and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

We booked the Tour 4 - A1: Private Ephesus, Atemission temple, House of Virgin Mary, St-John Basilica and added the Terrace Houses to our excursion for $195US for the 3 of us (2 adults + 1 child 12 yrs). We felt it was well worth the money. We traveled in a luxury air conditionned mini-van with guide and a driver. Our guide was friendly, funny and knowledgeable. We had a full day's visit and he made sure we stopped for any extra requests like wanting to see a cherry tree. We loved everything we visited though there were many tourists everywhere and the heat was intense. We were glad to visit the ruins in the early morning before it got too hot. For lunch, our guide brought us for a free home made lunch at Carpetium, a huge turkish carpet company. They are one of Princess Cruise's recommended stores. We ate on one of the pic-nic table outside in the garden. It was a lovely variety of turkish specialties and grilled meats on a bar-b-q. We were so impressed with the magnificent carpets that we bought one. We negociated a 40% discount. The carpet is to be delivered within 6-8 weeks. No other charges are involved, everything is included. Our guide said the company has a great reputation and can be trusted as many overseas clients come to buy their handmade carpets there. We made it back to our boat in plenty of time after a full day's visit. My only regret is not having packed my bathing suit for a quick stop for a swim at a local beach, the were many along the way. We would definately recommend Shuttle Private Day Tours and surely use them again should we have the chance.
