This was our fourth holiday in Turkey, and after staying at the Suntopia Bodrum Imperial (a sister hotel in the Suntopia chain) 2 years ago, we were worried that this hotel may not live up to expectations. Well we couldn't have been more wrong. We arrived in the early hours of Saturday morning, checked in and were given our room keys. Our luggage came to our rooms a little after.
The complex is fantastic. The large pool is great for all ages although like most places, you need to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve loungers. We didn't bother. This said, there were always loads of loungers available on the beach which was a few minutes walk from the pool and we found available loungers in the adult only area near the flumes exit.
The large pool has a bar which you can swim up to. There is also a bar near the wave pool and a bar next to the beach adjacent to the snack bar.
The 2 flumes are great and when we were there, a lifeguard was on duty ensuring that plenty of room was left between each person going on. The was also a lifeguard at the rapids ride. In my opinion this is not for small chidren as the currents are quite strong. It's great fun though and you wear a lifevest and helmet as you do get thrown about a bit. The lazy river is cold but a great way to cool off.
All the staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. The General Manager, Cemel Yildiz, could be seen everywhere and would always stop to talk to you to make sure you were enjoying yourself and ask if he could improve anything. A special mention to Umit in the adult only restaurant who worked extremely hard, and to Sochgun (apologies for the spelling) who was generally in the wave bar - always with a laugh and a smile and really chatty.
The food in the main restaurant was great with a huge variety of food to suit all tastes as well as about 6 live cooking stations where the chefs cooked in front of you. The snack bar near the beach again provided a good variety of cooked food, burgers, salads, fruit, and ice cream.
All over the complex, staff were clearing up and keeping the whole place neat and tidy. The gardens were kept immaculate.
The rooms are basic but more than adequate with a large shower and comfortable beds. There is a daily maid service (except on Monday) and the rooms are kept clean and tidy. They are also quiet.
The beach was great with loads of free loungers all under shade and the sea lovely and warm.
We were there for 2 weeks and tried each of the A la Carte restaurants. A great experience and something different.
There was some entertainment in the evening in the amphitheatre which finished around 9.45pm. I believe there was also entertainment near the pool but we didn't experience this - instead we went to the lovely, spacious and comfortable, air conditioned reception lounge, again where there was a bar plus free Wi-Fi.
Whilst there, we caught the local buses (Dolmus) to both Side and to Manavgat market. Only 1 euro each way on the bus. We also did paragliding, jet skis and the settee from the beach next to the hotel. Not cheap but well worth it.
My wife and I went for 2 weeks and our 2 sons aged 20 and 16 plus our eldest's sons girlfriend joined us for our second week.
In conclusion, we all had a fantastic holiday and would strongly recommend this hotel. We would all return to this hotel again.
