“cheap and cheerful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

got this as a late booking and paid next to nothing for it, on arrival my heart sank as it looked desolate, once inside things took a turn for the better, I walked through reception to be confronted by a large swimming pool and nice surroundings. The rooms are dated but kept clean by the very happy cheerful cleaners, the bar staff although not fluent in English try their hardest, their English is a lot better than my Turkish, they were always happy and pleasant,,memmett is a star, even making me a Turkish lemsip when he found out I had a cold.the biggest complimaint I can give to the hotel is that you feel like your in a little friendly close knit community, the staff are friendly and cheerful which makes the customers happy and relaxed, would definatley go back.

We have just returned from two weeks holiday in The Gazipasa Star Hotel and reading some reviews we were very worried what we were going to. We had no worries as we found this hotel really friendly and our room was very nice. We were on the fifth floor and had a sea view (albeit quite a way away). Maid service was every day and towels changed every day as well. There is a mosque over the road and the call to prayer was five times per day but we did get used to that.
The beach was quite a way but there was a free bus in the morning to take you there and bring you back in the afternoon. We found this hotel was a bit remote for us, but some other holidaymakers thought it was great.

Room Tip: We found the fifth floor was ideal for us and we had a good view.

Nice small hotel which is in a good location. Food was good but breakfast very basic although you could pay extra for a cooked breakfast if required. Free bus service to Appollon Temple beach which is lovely with soft sand and free sunbeds!! 30minute walk takes you into Antik Side where all the tourist shops are, Restaurants are more expensive in the square at the harbour. Excellent meal at the Agora restaurant off the main street.

After booking a very budget holiday for 2 weeks at the end of September i was expecting a very budget hotel but this surpassed all expectations.
The staff were very friendly and spoke great English, and were willing to teach Turkish to me and a friend too.
Seyda in reception was amazing, always helpful and enjoyed a pleasant conversation and i hope she enjoys her time off afterabusy and hectic summer.
Mehmet the main bar man was an absolute soldier, always bubbly too and getting really involved and having fun on Turkish night along with the chef who i believe is also called Mehmet.
Simon another of the barmen was a querky character but a barrell of laughs i must say, little jokes here and there he was great fun to be around.
The maids were very polite and provided a great service and cleaned the rooms with fresh towels daily, and i'm sure if you asked they would have gone out of their way to get something for you too.
Entertainment in the hotel was good with a Turkish night on a Tuesday and BBQ night on a Saturday along with Karaoke, fire breathers, belly dancer, staff dancing it was all superb.

Side itself as a resort i feel has very little but give it time and i am sure it will grow into a fantastic tourist area, if this hotel could be picked up and put in Marmaris it would fit right in and provide an excellent base for the night life that Marmaris offers.

9.5/10 from me easily

Loved everyone at the hotel, especially Seyda in reception ;)
Would love to return in a few years after the development of Side abit.

Traditionally run hotel. My sister and I went for a girlie week and had a great time. Staff friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for us. Contrary to other comments we found the owner to be a lovely turkish gentleman. Cosmos rep, Jo, was Fantastic and best rep I have come across, informatuve without being pushy. I will be returning with my husband. We did See "ladies" sat outside a nearby bar but if we hadnt seen reviews we would have Had no idea that they were ladies of the night.

We have stayed here a few years running and have aways enjoyed our stay here, the staff are always extra pleasant and extremely helpful, and make you feel very welcome, this year we had originally booked the oz side hotel just to try something different and have to say that our stay there was absolutely horrendous and would never step foot in the oz side hotel ever again,so we relocated all of our family after only 4 days of the oz side to the place we love ( gazipasa) hotel to spend the rest of our 10 day holiday and yet again were treated like royalty from start to finish and have already rebooked for next year.

Have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Pasa Star. After reading some of the reviews on tripadvisor I began to wonder if we had made a mistake booking this hotel, but on arrival soon discovered what a lovely hotel it is.Ok the rooms were on the small side and fairly basic but if you want 5* you pay 5* prices. The room was cleaned daily, bed and towels changed and the very friendly cleaner made different shapes with the bed cover every day.The pool was a nice size and cleaned daily, if you wanted a change from the pool the free bus ran 3 times daily to the beach where the sunbeds were also free. They expected you to buy a drink or food but didn't come by hassling you to buy anything.
The only thing we bought in the little shop at the Pasa was a large bottle of water, at 2 T Lira I don't think we could have bought it cheaper in a supermarket. The prices for everything in the shop were on a list on the wall so I don't see how they could vary the prices from day to day.
The hotel was situated near to several good resturants and to shops,we liked the Sultan and Flying Horse,The Red Lion was also good food but slightly more expensive, we were however disappointed with Butchers.
It was a steady 30 minutes walk down to the harbour.
We did hear the mosque some mornings but we soon went back to sleep,as for the red lightdistrict, we were in the dance bar along the road from the hotel until after midnight most nights and never saw anything.I was told It did go on in the area but under cover.
Now for my niggles, breakfast was the same every morning, scrambled eggs would have made a nice change. The sunbeds round the pool were free but it was 5 TL for 2 matteress. There were no glasses in the bathroom.
I wouldn,t hesitate to recommend the hotel and would certainly return.
